How high is Froch ranked compared to other british SMW?

Really good question, becuase as we know styles make fights and I think they could be in a 'Super 4' and only JC would not lose a fight.

I try and look at everything when making assessments like this.
A big point with Froch is that he has never beaten a SMW world champ and only won vacant titles against fighters that havent done anything at SMW.
In honesty Froch hasnt beaten anyone that has done much at SMW except faded Reid and B Magee. Thats not to say he doesnt have good wins.
I think R Reid would be above Froch as Reid was very unlucky not to get the Ottke decision many think he rightly deserved. If Reid had of been awarded that he would have won WBC WBA IBF titles and I felt Reid had won.
Woodhall beat Malinga a WBC SMW champ, Catley who became a WBC SMW champ and Nardiello who was a former WBC champ and top 10 rated and Branco who before being a LHW world champ was a top 10 SMW.
Catley beat 3 time WBC champ Beyer and future WBC champ Lucas who are fighters who have done more at SMW than anyone Froch has beaten

After that it it goes down to fighters like Catley, Magee, Starie not in order and there are others that deserve a mention

Froch beat Taylor who did nothing at SMW and was 1-2 in his last 3 fights and got KOd in the one after
Froch beat Dirrell whos best win was Oganov and arguably still is, maybe AA?
Froch beat Abraham coming off a loss who has done nothing at SMW
Froch beat Johnson who has done nothing at SMW and lost more at the weight than he has won. In fact Johnson was a journeyman when Reid and Woodhall were in the division

Reid beat Magee before Froch when undefeated. Magee is the most prime accomplished SMW Froch has beaten
Reid looked to have beaten Ottke who is a SMW great
I could note Reids wins like Cherifi who did nothing at SMW
Pretaurius who di nothing at SMW

Woodhall and Reid have beaten fighters who have done something at SMW, Froch hasnt done that yet

Just opinions. I think Woodhall would outbox Froch but we will never know. Froch is very slow. Froch only has one KO at world level.
Problem with what we think is that we just wont know.
Remember how many felt Calzaghe would be blown away by Lacy. If Calzaghe had of retired there and then you would be saying that Calzaghe would have been smashed to pieces by Lacy, but the fact is Calzaghe clearly beat him

 

Froch must be better than that because Ward just beat him and Ward is the best SMW ever atsch.
