I've never heard a boxer not complain!
    Read my book, The Fixer.
Every single boxer complains...Froch at having to fight Ward in USA, Brook at not getting a world title fight, fighters about illegal scales before fights, Mitchell at missing out on Rios, Lewis at not getting Bowe...they ALL complain about money, fact.
Fighters are like fans on the internet...NEVER happy!!

    Adios.

I can see this to an extent, but his whole stable towing the line. Not one angry outburst where a guy says too much? Just stinks a bit to me.

Let's say that hypothetically, he hadn't paid his fighters for 6/12 months, which is what is being suggested. Now I can understand the top scale fighters keeping hush, because if your earning 5/6 figure sums per fight, you can soldier on without a new rolex, and last year's car, but to the guys who are literally making ends meet on small money, putting food on the table, and paying their way in the gym, surely they would have hit the wall by now?

And when you think, secrets don't stay secret very long. You got a fighter having a bad day down at the gym, plenty of other fighters around, and they get talking. Those guys tell their friends etc. Reporters sniffing around. Be a BIG story in my opinion if it came out that a well known public figure had failed to pay a stable full of prizefighters/ex-olympians who have been risking their health in the ring for $$$.

I think a lot of people dislike Allegedly and want this to be true, and if it is, throw the book at him and get rid of him for good. But I hope it's just chinese whispers/bad gossip and the fighters are getting what they are owed.

Sorry Buncey, but there is a difference between complaining about having to fight abroad etc... and going to war in a tough fight and not getting paid for it is something completely different.

why would you want to get between the ropes again? its criminal - if the rumours are true of course...

I would think Boxing is a hard enough profession to do without actually being paid! I know I'd be pissed if I didnt get paid and I dont get punched in the face.

Agreed. But SURELY, someone would of come out and said "yes i'm getting paid fine, on time, no problem". The silence is deafening.

    :good

We should have a rule like they have in America where a promoter can't also manage a fighter.

The fighters are talking, they just aren't doing it publicly.

The fact that no fighter has come out and said "my pay is great and on time" speaks louder than the fact than no one has said they aren't getting paid.

Several of the fighters who have had money problems with said promoter post on this forum and not one of them has disputed this thread.

  10. ''A fighter's manager needs to lodge a complaint with the board about non-payment of monies''

Hmm.... Allegedly is hardly going to lodge a complaint against himself with the board, is he?

The best outcome for this dispute is to just tear the contract up, settle up any outstanding monies and just walk away with a handshake. DeGale can't go anywhere under the parameters of the contract - i.e. only fighting a couple of times a year due to £££, and Allegedly needs boxers off the payroll.

It's a ''force majeure''. Well, kind of.

I wonder if the truth is somewhere in the middle. Fighters are being dripfed their money, instead of being paid their whole purse or something?

    Just seen this

    Dave Coldwell via twitter -
"While we're talking about BBBofC Rules,I'm sure there's a rule in there where u actually have to pay a boxer for his services u mug. #boxing"

You've just twisted what he said, all he said is fighters are never happy.

Its like a gambler never being happy.

If you win you never had enough on it and if you lose you had too much on it!!!

what bunce did was put not getting a fight in a particular place, or not getting a particular fight on a par with not being paid for fighting in the ring when they are fundamentally different

    agreed.

bunce isn't to blame at all - not even 1%, but at the end of the day his post on the last page was just lip service and completely dodged the issue at hand.

I said they COMPLAIN about money - look at the post again.
I never said it is RIGHT that any boxer should be owed money.
Let's not put one and one together and come up with three!
Just wanted to clear that up.

    Adios.
