Floyd's opponent will be officially announced in the next couple of hours but rumours are it's Cotto (at 154!). http://fighthype.com/pages/content11517.html?PHPSESSID=cfba0148328dbaa23c423826f2f00687 Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole also mentioned that Cotto's the likely opponent. About 4 years too late but still a fight I'd like to see :yep edit: Officially official now...http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7528712/floyd-mayweather-jr-fight-miguel-cotto-license-approved
Nah, he's a free agent. Says he's not signing with anyone..will just work with them on a fight-by-fight basis. Yeah Gazanta, Pac/Bradley's being rumoured for June 9th and Marquez/Peterson on July 14th.
Bull**** fight! How can he fight some hypejob with no heart who was destroyed by Pac? Cotto's last fight was at 153 catchweight. And Floyd is dragging him up to 154! Cherry pick.
It's not a bad fight IMO, one that I'd like to see. Could've been much worse. He could've fought Guerrero, and it could've been Pac vs Cotto 2. I would like Pac to face Bradley or dare I say it, a fourth fight against Marquez.
5 years too late. I HATE Mayweather. He has no bottle whatsoever. This should of been made instead of the Hatton fight imo.
Looking forward to it. Taking out the hand wrap loss Cottos only defeat is to an absolutely out of this world Pacquiao. Still favour Mayweather obviously but Cotto is a live underdog.
Cotto can bother him I think, cause a few problems, not enough maybe but 8-4, 9-3 something like that.
^I agree that it should HAVE happened years ago, but I also think that people were way too quick to say that Cotto was past it once he lost against Marg and Pac. The Margarito fight, we don't know if Margarito used plaster or not. As for Pac, well he's just a great fighter. For me, Cotto is still a world class fighter that could be competitive against Mayweather.
Appreciate others may not, but I love this fight even if it is several years too late. Also features 2 of the 3 biggest stars (at least PPV wise) in the sport squaring off, so that can only be good for the sport. Throw in the fact they'll be advertising this during the Superbowl on Sunday night then this could be huge. Second biggest fight that could be made after Mayweather - Pacquiao
Not the same fight it would have been 3 years ago, but still, it's the most appealing matchup available.
