Some Mayweather fans are saying Cotto is still in his prime. I say he's faded, definitely past his best. I think the fights with Manny Pacquiao and the first fight with Plasterito took something out of him. I remember Floyd ducked Cotto a few years ago. Why did he wait until now to be willing to fight him? What do you think?
Cotto was shot and destroyed when pac fought hin and is now prime, thats flogic though. In reality he is slightly past prime but still very good.
here comes another hater to discredit a Floyd fight. Cotto is not in his prime but he sure as hell still an elite fighter and not close to being shot. Floyd isnt in his prime either. matter of fact Cotto has a 5 year age advantage on floyd. and btw Floyd has NEVER ducked Cotto. Cotto hasnt ever shown interest in fighting floyd. back in 05' a Floyd fight was offered to Cotto and he turned it cuz his team didnt think he was ready. technically if any has ducked it was Cotto, but of course people like to blame the undefeated guy like always

Yes he is. Why? Because you are asking ESB. The place where if you are a pro boxer and you lose a fight you are shot, past prime, or a hypejob. If you are potential mayweather opponent or PAC opponent you are no good either. Especially if it's mayweather. Threads will begin to pop up prematurely to start discrediting rumored opponents.
What he may have given up in offensive sharpness, durability, and willingness to engage he has compensated for with newly reinforced fundamentals and strategic skills. Whether that would work for him against someone like Floyd has yet to be seen. He may, with the right mental and physical preparation, be able to get the best of both worlds and recapture the hungriness in the ring to go along with his sharpened skill-set.
Floyd "retired" for the almost 2 years Cotto was on top in the WW division. I think this is a good fight, but let's not rewrite history here. Cotto has since then taken two brutal beatings. It's not the same as if they had squared off in 2007-8.
What sharpened skills do you speak of? Cotto was pretty much a finished product technically against Pac. About as fundamentally sound as anyone in boxing.
