especially if mayweather leans on the ropes...cotto sure as **** aint gonna waste punches like all of the other guys that can't figure out the sholder roll defense...he's gonna dig dig and dig until he finds something....

:deal Cotto: class act. Mayweather: Ass Hat.

Back in the day Cotto had a relentless body attack. People (myself inculded) wanted to see is that would slow Mayweather down and make him actually have to fight.

Cotto has stopped going downstairs lately, so I don't see an in-ring advantage other than heart.

Cotto applies better "effective aggression" IMO-bout it-I think he hits "harder"...technically speaking he doesn't do much better than Floyd.

Anyone know the difference in arm length? :huh

I bet you that Floyd will fight a lot like he did with Oscar?:think He's gonna be landing a lot more counters as Oscar's hands and timing IMO was better-

I do expect Cotto to score a knockdown in this fight..

It's not about 'who does what better' it's about styles. They are different types of fighters. Cotto is an aggressive boxer-puncher, FLoyd is a counterpuncher.

As for what Cotto does better, he's stronger, he's younger, he's bigger, he throws good combinations, good body puncher, and a great jab. I think his speed is pretty underrated too. At this point Floyd isn't all that much faster tbh.

he will bleed better, and when the time comes, he will meet his death better too.

seriously, his timing is completely orthodox, this style should not trouble Floyd in any way shape or form, it should be just like the JMM fight: clearly telegraphed intentions and sharp but extremely ordinary combinations just don't have a chance to land on Floyd. The more textbook and better you are, the worse it is for going up against Floyd, he needs to be "surprised" and he has that technical style down. Like Nacho said before pac jmm 3: a well thrown punch and a well schooled fighter in this case is an easier style to counter.

This is very true for Floyd, it is the scrappy less technical and unpolished guys who give him problems. Cotto was made for Floyd.

On thing for sure. Cotto willl perform much better than shot to **** Shane Mosley and mental midget Victor Ortiz.

Cotto has more power, great hook and jab, fluid combinations (hard), just cuz mayweather has a better jab or hook doesn't mean that Cotto can't land his. Cotto's body work is still there, he just mixes it up a little more nowadays. He can also fight out of a southpaw stance which is the key to getting through the shoulder roll defense, You can't parry a left cross, there is too much power behind it to be stopped. Oh yeah, Cotto has been in there with great competition also, It's gonna be a great fight, both fighters being at their best.

nah, that swarming relentless style is difficult for a moving boxer like Floyd who needs space. Cotto DOESN'T do that, Hatton does. Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, Hatton, and Castillo all made Floyd look uncomfortable at times because of their close style matched with FAST feet to close the distance (they are all small guys - big guys tend to not be that quick with the foot movement so they can't pressure Floyd like that, not giving him space to move) Cotto doesn't fight that way.

Agreed on most if not all of your points. Add to that since I dont think Cotto can compete boxistically with Mayweather. He needs to apply alot of pressure and stay up close.
In order for Cotto to be competitive, he's going to have to eat alot of hard single shots to get at Mayweather.
Mayweather is great at timing you coming in and discouraging you from advancing.
I dont think anyone here can lay claim to saying Cotto can take a great shot and not be discouraged. I fighter like Cotto has to take that clean hard shot or he's got zero chance to compete.
