Smoke & Mirrors!!! Cotto went through the motions, lots of nodding heads, hands shakes, here's my hand here's my heart, my words my bond ect ect, there's millions of them.

Cotto is now a free agent & he's gonna cash in as he don't have to pay Uncle Bobs %%%% cut so can give floydie a bigger piece. It was always gonna be this way & it's the only rational decision for Cotto to make & for Mayweather from a business & boxing longevity perspective.

Well thats my vegas trip ****ed for this year, I'll see what the ticket prices are for Floyd/Cotto but there's no way i'am doing the long haul for a PacBradley. I bet Pacquiao must be really really pissed off with Arum as Pac's been slaughtered in the PR stakes. He's got to give JMM a re-match as there's no way Mayweathers going to fight him in November as he'll only want Khan for that date.

You can forget about Cotto/Chavez jr in the future thats for sure.

I wonder if Mayweather is maybe having just a little trouble making 147lbs :think

Despite it being a few years later than everyone would've liked I'm still liking it and pleased for Cotto he gets a crack at Mayweather and a good payday.

Cotto wont have to worry too much about what sort of power is coming his way but he does have a propensity to cut and swell so that could cause problems. He has a chance here to really go for glory, to work the body and try and break a defensive fighter down and I hope he pulls it off.

Will be interesting to see what weight Floyd comes in at too and how he performs.

Ok, we'll agree to disagree as I don't (and i'm sure you don't) want to derail this into a general forum-esque Pac-May thread.

    Meh, its okay.

I'm coming to realise and deal with the fact that the time for Pacquiao/Mayweather is long gone and they both don't have long in the business, so I'll enjoy what I can out of them. That said, I think I'd rather see a Mayweather fight than a Pacquiao fight. He's grown on me, whereas I'm fed up with all the bull**** surrounding Pacquiao's fights.

    It's all good.

Not a bad fight by all accounts. Cotto isn't completely shot and still has something left in the tank.

I predict a Mayweather win by Decision. 8-4.

I think Cotto is a perfectly good fight. Mayweather will win but it's a legitimately good opponent.

Having said that Floyd said this today:

"De La Hoya - Pacquiao fights him at a catch-weight. Cotto - he fights him at a catch-weight. When I fought De La Hoya, I said 'give him to me at 154.' With Cotto – ‘give him to me at 154.’ Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses."

So he'll fight Cotto at 154 but not Martinez at 154? He doesn't want anything to do with Martinez. Fair enough he shouldn't have to look to the middleweight champion to find an opponent people won't criticise but that's the position he's in as there are no real challenges for him at 140, 147 or 154 except Pacquiao. Not his fault but he can't talk about being one of the greatest ever if he won't take on the challenge.

The fight will start off competitive and then get embarrassingly one-sided by the end. Still, have always wanted to see this fight. Cotto has the tools to test Mayweather for a little while and brings things the table stylistically that Pacquiao doesn't.

Has there been any confirmation that it's at 154?

All I'll say is Ray Leonard was willing to fight the middleweight champion at 158 (IIRC) with no warm up after a similar lay-off to Mayweather. He fought the best fighters in the world at his weightclass within a two year period.

Floyd hasn't strung together a top series of wins since lightweight.
