When he was younger and more wreckless he had excellent power while coming forward. He never fights that way anymore, which means only an act of god type unlikely event will allow him to win. Freak injury, disqualification, Fan man amputation of floyd's left arm, atomic bomb, Ect.
He hit harder at 140. (stopped Corley where Mayweather UD'ed him; and IMO would have put Bruseles down for a full count and would have knocked Gatti out rather than battering him into a Buddy Stoppage)
atsch ...I'm aware of that! EJDiaz said Cotto hits harder at 154. My reply was that no, he doesn't - of the common weights he and Mayweather have campaigned in, he hit harder at 140 but that's it. I didn't spell it out in quite that much detail, because I didn't think it was necessary..

Cotto's advantages are slim to none, but that's why they have the fights, and not just declare people the winner since they have a better record, better skills, etc.
This has always been a mismatch....pick any point in Cotto's career....but that did not stop people from saying Floyd should have fought him before the Margo fight.... In fact some thought Cotto would actualy beat Floyd pre-Margo.... In my opinion...there is not one version of Cotto that would beat Floyd...NOT ONE!
The only thing I can think of is punch output, which could/may help Cotto to win some rounds (if he doesn't get hit/countered in return too much of course).
I agree Cotto is nothing like JLC. Cotto's only chance is too try and fight an inside rugged fight and smother Mayweather much in the same manner JLC did. How Cotto reacts to Floyd's power will make all the difference in how close this fight is. Cotto i believe, does not have the same durability or chin as JLC did.
