why doesn't cotto get credit for beating Foreman at 154?

You're right, Foreman was an opponent picked to give Cotto a title belt in a new division. That doesn't excuse the facts that Foreman was undefeated (that makes a big change in the mind set of a fighter, as evidenced by how Yuri's career has gone since) bigger than Cotto, presumed to be faster than Cotto, and had a very awkward style.

It's a very good win by Cotto.

Who cares about the betting odds...Miguel has a solid fan base and had way more media exposure...Do you actually think the unknown foreman would be the favorite. The general consensus for that fight still remains that Cotto would loose regardless of the betting odds.

I know for a fact that the word on the street was that Cotto was washed up and would loose this fight at 154

Yep. Had to find hilights on youtube. Sometimes we forget to look at a boxers whole body. I did notice the knee brace till after watching hilights of the Cotto fight.

I agree with you on this point. I don't know if the result Cotto winning would be diffrent. Foreman lacks the firepower to controll the distance from Cotto for 12 rounds. It is a fight Foreman could have won, but without that fire power he's limited.
This is a rare statement from me about a boxer over 30, but it Yuri Foreman is going to contune his boxing career he should drop down to a weight class or two if he can.

Mainly because it was Yuri Foreman, a paper titlist who hadn't achieved too much. I mean there was Williams and Martinez around at the time (I think)

Even now if Cotto beat Williams it will be considered a bigger victory no doubt

Really??? After the brutal KO and the **** performance and gift against Lara. I really doubt that would be the case.
