Why Are People Complaining about Mayweather Fighting Cotto?

If only it were this simple. ranking only mean something compared to the others ranked AT THE TIME. Are you that stupid to think ANYONE ranked #1 is a top fighter? Or that ONE good fight in 4 years (as Shane had) erases those fights he looked bad at?

Sorry if I don't see things as simple as you do. Boxing isn't that simple, but to noobs like you, there's a nice neat formula to follow. :-(

 

1. There's around 4 years between the two fights and Casamayor was old when he fought Marquez in the first place.

2. Yes, JMM was fighting even with Casamayor up till the KO.

3. Casamayor was LW champion of the world, Marquez had just moved up to the weightclass.

4. Several years (and losses) later, Casamayor faces Bradley at 140lbs after Bradley ducks Khan. Bradley dominates Casamayor who then tests positive for weed aafter the fight. Congratulations, Bradley beat an old, hight, Lightweight and now gets a peice of the Pacquaio pie. Weird how he signed for TopRank one fight before that:think

Personally I feel Mosley was clearly past it for both Mayweather and Pac. I think he had more confidence going into the Mayweather fight then the Pac fight though.

But he was still rated the #1 WW when Mayweather fought him while Mayweather was accused of ducking him coming off beat down of Margo. Cotto right now is rated the #1 JMW.

We can argue how shot these guys are or past it these guys are but either they both were/are overrated or they were/are the #1s.

I have nothing against this fight but it's like settling for a B movie when you could be watching a classic.

the oscar that floyd beat was healthy and a legit 154 champ.....the one pac beat hadnt fought at 147 in like 8 years and was a corpse.....

the hatton floyd ko'd was unbeaten....the one manny ko'd had been ko'd by floyd, nearly ko'd by juan lazcano, and emerged victorious over the very heavy handed paulie!

the shane that floyd dominate and embarrassed was the top welter at the time coming off of an impressive win.....the one pac beat...well thats been discussed.....

the jmm that pac looks like **** against no matter what weight/age.....thats the one floyd ****in toyed with and made it look like they didnt even belong in the same universe

It's mind boggling....... people were jizzing at the thought of Pac Cotto 2 at 147 but when $ chooses him at 154 they are outraged??? Just means *******s hold $ at higher standard than Pac who is coming of a humiliating schooling at the hands of Marquez.

You are right, Shane probably did have more confidence going into the fight vs. Floyd. Hence his looking good for 5 minutes. But Shane's confidence has been **** since forrest sadly. He gets disouraged WAAY too easily now when he can't do much. Sad, because for all his physical abilities, his great chin, he didn't have it mentally. He became gunshy WAY to easy.

Ratings are too subjective these days. I go by how guys look in their fights rather then saying "He was #1!" or stuff like that. A guy #1 in a good division is NOT the same as a guy #1 in a weak division, if that helps.
