Mayweather vs Cotto @ 147. Still a good fight?

No, Cotto's win over Mosley at the end of 2007 was a fluke. Gomezis better than advertised but he is to Cotto what Cotto is to Mayweather & Pacquiao. Just not in the same league. His loss to Margrito had just as much if not more to do with Cotto's tendancy to weare out over the course of a match, than it did with what may or may not have been in Margarito's gloves.

 

It would still be a good win. Cotto is SMALL compared to the other JrMW's. IMHO, he was beaten out of WW. he didn't move up because of weight problems. He had a belt lured right in from of him, and took it. Was a good move, but it wasn't due to weight.

Cotto was coming into his 147lbs fights around 155-160, you can bet he's more comfortable only draining down to 154, plus if he wants he can come in bigger to push Floyd around

That's only on the assumption he was UNCOMFORTABLE making WW. He certainly didn't fight that way. By what you say, he should be even MORE comfortable at 160. not at all.

Fight is at 154. Floyd isn't a ***** in the ring and doesn't need to drain fighters. A rep for cotto said they picked the mayweather fight over a rematch with pac because they wanted 147 and floyd would come up to 154.
