This is the version who isn't drained and actually beat Margarito and is arguably coming off his career best win. I don't think there's much in it really, same fighter
That's because you ASSUME he was unhealthy at WW. Nothing in his fights suggested that at all. He didn't fight at all like a guy who's weight bothered him. :-(

He was coming into the ring around 155-160, that's 10-15lbs of draining, most fighters do it, but you're less drained the less weight you drain. He also said about fighting Pacman at 150 'I won't sacrifice my body for Pacquaio again'
I don't understand why fight fans are happy with this fight. The outcome is a full gone conclusion. Mayweather by wide UD. Who would pay for this garbage? Canelo was more intriguing to me but I guess more of a risk, and of less financial benefit. He's not called 'money' for nothing.
Cotto is probably a little faded, but I think he is more confident... However, what makes this fight more interesting is that Cotto has a hard time with pressure fighters, fighters who can damage him with concussive power, Mayweather is not that kind of boxer. Stylistically, this is a much better match for Cotto than Pacquiao was. Don't get me wrong, Mayweather is an amazing boxer and most certainly has the advantage. However, I think Cotto has a pretty decent chance of making this fight VERY interesting. More importantly, Cotto knows what kind of fighter gives him problems and he knows that Mayweather isn't that kind of fighter; I think this will give Cotto an even bigger confidence boost. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a beastly Cotto in this match. This fight makes me excited.
I agree. It was a matter of being closer to his Margo defeat than the current Cotto is from the Pac defeat. Besides, Cotto's "vulnerability" at welter was shattered by Margo, and it is still clean at 154. Not saying I promote this opinion, but I do agree with it to an extent. I don't think it's a legendary fight, but it is still a great one. Where do you rank Cotto at 154?

He had no legs at 145, and you can see him in the 24/7 arguing with his manager before the weigh in because he was starving. Miguel has never been the kind of guy to discredit anyone(except marg) so of course he didnt say anything as he would look bad doing it after signing the contract. He had not been close to 145 since like 2006. He walks around at 165, people here think these guys walk around their weight class limit in between fights so when they see the 2 pound difference it looks like nothing.
Anyone have his in-ring weight for his fights since Pac? I bet u the difference is minimal. He is a very small jmw.
I would have to look at the fight again, but interesting. I thought he still moved the same as he did vs. Margarito, which is to say not that great. He's gotten better with his footwork since though. WIll say that.
