In my experience, it's about half and half between casual fans and Floyd -- some like him, some hate him. But I find that the ones that hate him are generally simpletons that don't know a thing about the technical side of boxing, and couldn't name more than 5 active boxers. With all of my friends that follow boxing, all of whom, like myself, are white (since somebody brought up race), they all like and respect Floyd. Nobody's ever said they hated Floyd. Some of them have said he's kind of a dick, or things of that nature, but they are always quick to add that he's a beast in the ring and they have mad respect for his skills. My friends and I don't like to talk about a fighter's personal life very much and if we do, we don't let it affect our opinion of that fighter overall.
This is all good, but most people who hate Floyd, hate him as a person not as a boxer. There is no definite correlation between the people who hate Floyd and boxing knowledge.atsch
