Couple of Journalists on a message board I visit. Could be BS, could be true. Only one way we'll find out :)

I do however think its interesting they've made Silva vs. Jones such a big part of the game hype.

ones would try some flying knee or spinning back elbow and get brutally KOed by one of the best strikers in MMA. Not to mention the fact that the main reason that stuff works his is incredible reach advantage which he doesn't have against Overeem.

In fact he'd try them and get brutally KOed by most tp heavies.

Did you read the interview? He said that he wanted to fight a top ten heavy for the **** of it not because he can't make 205.

Regarding his weight, this is from two days ago:

    https://twitter.com/#!/Jonnybones/status/164119392869826560

Jones hasn't been training seriously since before the Machida fight. Since then, he's gone on a vacation with his family and has been attending all of the recent UFC events to do press for the company. If that's the weight he gets up to when he isn't busting his ass in the gym twice a day, then he isn't going to be "forced" to move up to HW because of his weight for a long time.

    Some very good points!

I think Jones will have to clean up 205, then do it again and break Anderson's record of defenses, before they risk letting him fight one of the big boys. There could be a fight with a mediocre HW (minimum risk), but I don't know how much interest it would generate or that a Jones win would be significant.

Its a sad day indeed when Dana starts taking leafs outta the Bob Arum book

But then thats what you get when the people in charge are more concerned with money than the sport itself

I don't want to see Jones move up yet. All in good time. The guy is 24 years old FFS. One year ago today, he was getting ready to fight Bader.

He has meaningful fights left at light-heavy.

He has the chance to build an INCREDIBLE legacy there.

He doesn't struggle to make weight, and the HW division will still be there in one year or two years or three years.

****, there isn't even anybody at HW for him to fight who is at the end of their road. Overeem is 31. JDS is 27. Cain is 29. Those guys will still be around in two or three or even five years.

Let Jones become indisputably the greatest 205 pounder ever before he goes to the heavyweight division. Sooner or later he'll end up in the heavies anyway, so why the rush? I'd rather see him move up at age 27 or 28.

He does? Henderson, Evans (just for the fact thats been so overdue, evans though its a total mismatch). After that then who? Aint no one else. Maybe give Shogun another shot if hes worked way back into contention, but after that there ain no one. Someone might come up and if so great but if not then what?

I dont want to see him squander his prime years fighting way overmatched guys - ala Anderson - when he could really be testing himself with the heavies

If he can clear out the LHW, then move up and clear up the heavies..... theres a strong argument to be made for him being the second greatest fighter of all tam

Truth is, if there are no credible opponents left to face @ 205... what's the point? I'm not sure his legacy will be strengthened by defending vs the Gustafssons and the Baders of the world. That said, I would also not like a move to HW right now. There's no reason to rush him, he can fight the big boys in a year or two. And there's no fear of him becoming 'an Anderson Silva', as he is far too young right now.
