P4P means little to me. Just the opinion of whoever made the list. But I can't say if Cotto or Alvarez are the top 2 at 154 when NEITHER has faced many of the others. They are the best known, and in today's boxing world that actually seems to count in ranking. Popularity shouldn't ever matter in ranking a fighter IMHO. JrMW is wide open right now.

Still a good fight but it's 5-6 years past due. That's why we're complaining. Funny how inept Mayweather fans **** on Pac for fighting Floyd's leftovers but now that the shoe's on the other foot :think.

That's also part of making it best available you have to add all that. Cotto offers the most money and a #1 ranking at JMW. Nobody else offers that combo other then Pac and Martinez.

Other than arguably Williams none of the other 154 fights can you honestly say has clearly earned a fight with Mayweather over Cotto.

Look at Lance_Uttercunt being brutally thrashed and embarrassed with facts yet again.:lol::rofl:rofl:rofl

Face it dummy, you're one of the most deluded Pac nuthuggers on this forum and your hatred of Floyd blinds you to the fact that your hero is blatantly avoiding Money May and would be clowned and styled on all the way to a late mercy stoppage when the Joke Coach throws in the towel.:deal

What pisses me off most about this fight is the fact that it will just be a boring UD for Floyd. Neither has the power to knock the other out, and both have a rather dull, running style. (Cotto more so since his last fight.)

That's the thing, Floyd is superior in size to Pacquiao...that's pretty clear to see. In terms of weight, I would say there isn't that much difference...not as much as people claim.

Comparing Cotto and Pacquiao, their dimensions were scarily similar during their bout, but Cotto was again the heavier in terms of fight night and walk around weight.

Cotto will most likely rehydrate heavier than Mayweather, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayweather looking like the bigger man in there.

    This.

At the end of the day, people can twist it all they want and argue otherwise.

But Cotto is generally regarded as the number 1 JMW in the world.

Sure, he's not a prime Cotto. But he's an experienced Cotto, who's a more seasoned veteran now, and rejuvenated following a string of wins at a new weight and avenging the Margo loss.

The first Margo defeat, whether it was with loaded gloves or not, certainly effected him. Clottey's a good fighter, no doubt, but not on par with a prime Cotto. And Cotto struggled. And while I do not think Cotto was extremely weight drained against Pac (let's not get into the argument why Cotto had to come in at 145 when the Dela Hoya and Clottey fights were both at 147), Cotto did make certain statements regarding weight following the Clottey fight. Combine this with the way that he lost to Pac (which, like the first Margo fight, effected him), a move up in weight was logical.

A couple of years following his losses, the move up in weight, a string of wins (including the aforementioned avenging of his first defeat), imo, brings a seasoned, more experienced Cotto to the table.

I'm not comparing the fighters at all, it's just the first one that popped into my head while writing this, but Hagler was certainly not prime against Leonard. And yet that is regarded as one of Leonard's best win (i know there's other factors involved, just sayin').

Outside of Pac (which is not happening, again, I don't care to argue because of who) and Martinez (who is already booked for March), it is the next best fight available for Floyd.
