    Here's the lowdown
-Fastest hands behind Patterson, fastest feet, fastest head movement with extremely quick reflexes
-Granite chin with great recuperative powers, could also take a very good bodyshot
    -Very skilled
-Pretty decent punching power coupled with the fact his punches were very accurate, extremely good jab
-Was a very big heavyweight, long reach and physically very strong, no one got the better of him in clinches
-Rarely got cut and wasn't prone to being bruised
-Alot of heart, unmatched ring IQ, knew how to pysche out opponents and frustrate them
    -Great stamina

Too much great qualities to boil down to one but if i had to say one it'd be his speed

His chin, and recuperative powers, i don't think he couldve beat many of the opponents he beat without it. He never could have survived Foreman or Frazier the way he did without bieng so damn durable

His chin, his heart, his smarts, his self-belief. It's not speed that kept him from defeats against the likes of Shavers, Norton and Frazier, in fact the problem was he wasn't fast enough oftentimes.

    His greatness.

He knew he was greater than everybody.

He looked great, he spoke great, he publicised great and when it came down to it he imposed his greatness as a fighter on the other stars he fought until he came out on top.

His skills.heart, chin and courage were just a by product of his greatness as a human being imo.

His mind. He used it before and during the fight, and more often than not he used it perfectly.

    This. Spot on.

There comes a time, in a hellish fight, where you have to dig down. Go to a super darker place, shut down all doubt, banish all pain and fear, and fight back harder and harder. Ali did this as well as any boxer in history.

His mental strength saw him through some serious ordeals, from Frazier to Foreman to Norton to Shavers.

Only Frazier in FOTC dug deeper than Ali did, and that had something to do with being in better shape.

His judgement of timing/distance and ability to be loose/relaxed, to pull off the unique hands-down pull-back style @ heavyweight.

    Will.

When his skills and athletic abilities diminished, he could still win on indomitable will.
