I think it would be a Tua, Bert Cooper or Tyson built feller... And those guys weren't exactly small except vertically. Jeremy Williams had a reputation as a banger for a while and he wasn't exactly huge.

If were talking historically then I reckon if you could transplant a prime 6"1 200 pound Joe Louis he would still make waves as a puncher even now.

Marciano would probably knock out at least half of the fat sluggish bums who make up today's "top 20".
    He was smaller than Dempsey.

    Langford possibly too.

Langford was the first to come to my mind

Power wise Marciano, Dempsey and Langford for sure ... that does not mean they would win but they had the power to seriously hurt if they could connect with regularity ...

Look at it like this .... Ali was almost iced by an 188 or so Cooper ... Ali hd an all time chin ... any of those three hit at least as hard as Cooper ... I don't really find a debate about it ... the question is if they could themselves survive and land against much bigger guys .... a whole other question ...

Tom Sharkey would wipe the slate clean of these modern slobs. I'll stake my wig on it!

Fitz. He would be a journeyman if he were somehow allowed to fight at 170 in the HW division, but he would be a known puncher. That man was an utter freak - the biggest freak boxing has produced I think.

the question is also, how long would their careers last if every guy they faced was 6-2, 220 and bigger. That's a lot of wear and tear on a smaller fighter. Would they even make it to contender status?

Well, if that's an issue, they could just fight about 20 or 30 mediocre guys in the light-heavy and cruiser divisions, then step up and beat up 2 or 3 heavyweight has-beens and they'd be big-time contenders.

That's what Adamek and Haye did.

Langford,Marciano,Dempsey and Louis would all be able to KO anyone they hit cleanly...Louis may be the best of all because of his combination and counter-punching skills....over 15 rds...Marciano,Louis and Langford.....in a punchers shootout Dempsey had a chance with anyone

  15. Dempsey was 6'1 and sub 200 when he faced Willard I think so h would be. Imagine if he fought at Boytsov's weight.
Joe Louis slayed huge Primo Carnera and big Buddy Baer so...him too.
