NOBODY is a bigger Foreman fanatic than I am. :nono My house is literally full of George Foreman memorabilia & I collect his grills, one of which is gold-plated & I got him to sign it personally. :deal
And yet you think that Foreman needed skill to beat his opponents. I, on the other hand, believe that even a skill-less Foreman could beat the modern crop. Face it, Hook: your collection of Foreman Pez dispensers notwithstanding, I am the greater Foreman fanatic.
NO Foreman did not need skill to smash his victims, he needed RAW POWER And BRUTE STRENGTH only. BUT his skills are UNDERRATED, watch his proper mint RAMROD JAB here, used to setup haymakers from hell - [yt]RgBQJsq7Vjs[/yt] [yt]izXsavjk6po[/yt] [yt]naUC9jQLytw[/yt]
Watch Foreman doing Prime-Tyson-Style combinations here - Look at 6:50 - 7:40 [yt]e4_VCVI-KIc[/yt] Now THAT is serious skills. :admin
Utter Dominance over Frazier and Norton (both of whom gave the arguable GOAT loads of trouble) plus winning back the HW title 20 years after Zaire is what firmly place Foreman in my Top 3-4 HWs. :good
I forgot about Leon. I think most would like to forget about that little reign. I think Michael would win a UD.
Just like to reitterate my stance that being a lineal champion isn't really a big deal especially in this day and age. Leon spinks and shannon briggs were never real champions.
Max Baer would beat every top heavyweight today except for Vitali Liston could KO Louis and Dempsey using only his jab Thrilla in Manilla is the most overrated fight of all time Carnera beats Dempsey Earnie Shavers is very underrated as a H2H fighter Larry Holmes is very overrated as a H2H fighter Jimmy Young, bar his defensive skills, is **** i dont know why people babble on about him on ESB so much Except for SRR, Sandy Saddler is the greatest H2H fighter p4p, marciano is 3rd If the Klits weren't so bloody tall they would never have become champ
I think Primo was a lot better than given credit for. But I really don't see him surviving a prime Dempsey. Dempsey finds his chin, and Primo wouldn't be able to take much of that. I mean, c'mon, Tommy loughran was wobbling Carnera with his punches. Dempsey would knock him all over the place.
This is a good one. I agree. He had some vulnerabilities that could cost him against even some mediocre opponents, but with his power and accuracy would give him a much greater chance against some of the greats than people make out. He's known for his power, but his punching was also pretty sharp and fast. It's true. The guy was a skilful spoiler, that's all. A clever journeyman. I can respect the man's skill, but he wasn't much of a fighter. George Foreman had to retire for 10 years, the embarrassment of losing to such a fighter.
About Shavers i think his stamina and chin get waaaaay overrated and the Shavers of the Ali fight proved he could be a patient stalker who picked is shots as opposed to the Quarry one who went balls to the walls. The Ali version was quite fearsome.
