Mayweather/Cotto Official for May 5th!!!

People talking about how Cotto's jab might be important need to remember that Manny was timing that **** within 2 rounds. If Manny is timing and shooting sneaky straight lefts over the jab, what is Floyd going to do?

I don't hate this fight because Cotto deserves another crack at one of the top dogs and after Pacquaio their isn't many great fights out there for Mayweather (I don't expect Martinez will ever happen either).

Mayweather will win this handily though, I don't write any top boxers off completely but I'm not buying that Cotto is back to his best. Since Pacquaio he beat a one legged Foreman who was winning up until he hurt his leg (he was beaten of Wolak in his next fight).

A Mayorga who hasn't fought a decent opponent since getting KO'd of Mosley many years ago and the Margarito rematch which although he looked awesome in and I was thrilled he got revenge lets not pretend Margarito is the same guy that beat him. His eye was destroyed before he got in the ring and he had taken monstrous beatings from Mosley and Pacquaio and also a year ban. Plus we will never know how many times he used the handwraps and if they had a huge effect on his performance/s.

Like I say though, it's one of the better fights that could be made given the circumstances but I don't have much hope for Cotto at this stage of his career.

 

Was he fighting Manny's leftovers when he completely schooled Marquez?

Or was it that Marquez was still a competitive opponent, as demonstrated when he took Pacquiao all of the way in a 3rd fight?

Your point being that people said Pacquiao fought Mayweather's leftovers when he fought DLH, Hatton and Mosley.

Lads he will give a Floyd a better fight than Ortiz for sure. And Cotto does seem to be on his best run of form since 08. this is the most competitive on paper since the De La Hoya and Hatton bouts. Also, considering its at light-middle, where Floyd isnt used to fighting, this could be a fairly closely matched affair.


Any people who dont like this fight can **** right off.
