When Floyd defeats Cotto, will the ring recognise him as P4P #1?

After Manny's shameful performance against old, lightweight marquez the ring said the following:

"Pacquiao's recent performances are enough to keep him as number one, barely"

Now Floyd, coming off winning the Welterweight title from young, hungry Ortiz will move up in weight to fight Junior Middleweight champion and Ring Magazine number one in that Division: Miguel Cotto

Surely this win will make him #1 if pacquaio is "barely" ahead at this point

    :think

I agree, he would be perhaps a comparitive win, although thats debatable IF Pacquiao goes down to 140 to fight him

One of their main reasons was also Floyd's inactivity so since he's being more active and he will probably beat Cotto with ease, yes I think they will

    I don't understand peoples logic...
Mayweather schools Marquez... Pac struggles with Marquez
Pac OBLITERATES Cotto... Mayweather may win a nice UD.

WTF is the difference? I think the most annoying thing is whenever mayweather beats Ortiz (before Pac struggles with Marquez) people ranked him P4P #1 again... LOL. After Pac struggled with Marquez A LOT of people ranked Mayweather P4P #1.
It's crazy... Since Mayweather has been back he has beaten Marquez at a catchweight, in which he cheated on the scales (I will admit it didn't matter a whole lot.. Principle of the thing), beat Mosley (decent win due to age), and beat Ortiz (coming off a sensational win, but before that he got a loss to Midana and a draw to Peterson).
Other than Pac struggling with Marquez while Floyd has been playing around with that... Pac knocks out Hatton, make mence meat of Margaritos face, destroys Cotto, knocks down Mosley (only person to do that was Vernon Forrest).

People have one bad performance... In which they win anyway, and it's like they go from P4P #1 in the world to not even on the list anymore. Then Floyd beats somebody he's suppose to beat, and gets praised, and after a 10 year layoff is ranked #1 yet again.

Pac didn't struggle with Marquez. Pac Lost to Marquez. Big difference. Floyd will cut Cotto apart and stop him earlier than Pac did. Plus, Pac will make a 140lb fighter come up to 147. Floyd will go up to fight a 154lb fighter. Another difference. But Floyd is obnoxious, so Pac will retain the #1 ranking.

Why didnt you mention the two catch weight fights in Cotto at 145 and Margarito at 150 and Hatton already being exsposed by Floyd. When you give an argument make it fair and honest.

Both have there flaws but I cant understand why if its so hard for PAC to make 144 didnt he fight at 140. He had a slew of viable opponents that would have made him the clear #1 P4P in Bradley, Ortiz, Alezander, Khan, Maidina, Campbell, Holt, Petersen and others but you get my point.

I think Bradley is a better win. Kicking Cotto's limited hype job ass isn't impressive.
