Sonny Liston was a genuine good guy out of the ring

Jake Lamotta a genuine bad guy (or was)

Thank you. the concept of "lineal champions" especially today is a silly, futile exercise.

Michael Nunn and Roy Jones could both individually beat Stanley Ketchel and Harry Greb back to back on the same night.

Monzon loses to Gene Fullmer and Dick Tiger.

    FOTC Frazier destroys Tokyo Douglas.

    Carl Williams beat Larry Holmes.

Chagaev was shite. I guess none of them would do as well as Matt Skelton?

You're probably right but the prowess of the Tokyo Douglas has been blown out of all proportion imo and I reckon the FOTC Frazier (the other fighter whose best night out has reached an almost mythical status) is a much more legitimate h2h beast than the other who got lucky against an undertrained, unmotivated and probably overrated fighter.

Max Baer, and his "boxing skills" would be laughed out of most gyms I've frequented.

And 95% of heavyweights today and their "stamina" would be laughed out of most gyms he frequented what's your point?

Talk about his lack of skill all you want his stamina, power and chin cannot be denied.

His punching would have left you speechless.
Or lifeless .... if you're dumb enough to spar with him.

Baer wasn't the most skillful boxer to ever be filmed or covered but noone is claiming he was.

His endurance, stamina, strength and power is clearly evident.

He'd struggle to be successful against someone as big and strong as say the k brothers but anyone closer to his size will have a clearly difficult night.

I think we all know the other max was the better boxer, but we all saw what happened when the two got it on.
