Note: This interview was published 24 January 2012.

Reporter: At the beginning or the end of the year everybody makes plans. What do you expect from 2012?
Bute: First of all I wish to be healthy and have no injury's. If everything goes well I wish a unification bout.

Reporter: Have you start hitting the bag or not ?
Note: Bute had injured his left hand against Johnson.
Bute: I have 2 weeks of physiotherapy left, and only after that I'll start using my left.

Reporter: So it is something more than a small injury.
Bute: (laughs) For us boxers, the hands are the tools that we work with, so it's normal to injure yourself from time to time. I'm lucky that I'm rarely injured.

Reporter: It has been said that your protected, and that you have easy opponents until now.
Bute: This situations should be looked from another angle! Maybe Bute is really good and not his opponents are weak.I said it many times before I'll fight anybody. For my last fight there were discussions with Pavlik and Kessler but they refused to fight me. So I fought Glen Johnson who's a Super Six semi-finalist.

Reporter: Many said you haven't give it your all against Glen Johnson. Have you respected him a little to much ?
Bute: In a boxing match there isn't such a thing like you don't give everything you have. You can lose in a fraction of a second all the work of the fight. That almost happen to me in the first fight against Andrade, so I would take the risk of that happening again. Glen Johnson is a very good fighter, who had a close fight against Froch in the semi-finals of the Super Six. My problem in this fight was that I couldn't push more because I had injured my hand in the 6th round. Even with all that the American judge has given me all the rounds.

Reporter: After the fight Glen said that the decision should have been in his favor.Do you think you caused him a brain injury?
Bute:(laugh) Glen Johnson is an OK guy. We spoke after the fight, and there are no problems between us.

Reporter: How many fight do you want for 2012?
Bute: If everything goes well and I'm healthy I want 3 fights this year.

Reporter: You were negotiating with Carl Froch for two fights, one in the spring in Canada and the second at summer in England. Is it true that Showtime refuses to pay for a fight against Froch and want's a fight against an American boxer ?
Bute: Things are like this: Showtime have a heavy word when it comes to picking an opponent, they being the one who pay for the fight, but the final decision is not up to them. Meaning they don't decide on their own who fights who. I have a contract for only one fight. This could be a strategy of theirs to sign a new contract.

Reporter: US press says that they would prefer a fight against an American boxer, because it will sell better. The obvious options are Bernard Hopkins and Andre Ward. What's your oppinion of a fight against one of them.
Bute: Obviously the fight that everybody want's to see it's Bute vs Ward.
Showtime wants this fight, the fans want's it, so does Lucian Bute. The only one who does seem to not want it anymore is Andre Ward. If you look at Ward's statements before the Super Six final, you'll see that he was saying everywhere that the winner must fight Bute to establish who is the king of the weight-class. After the fight his statements change completely, now he says I must fight A-lvl opponents before I fight him.
Ok, Andre Ward, if you refuse to fight me now, what kind of opponents you'll be fighting until we'll be standing face to face.

Reporter: How important is an unification bout. Multi-version champions don't seem to be at fashion anymore. There are very few weight-classes where a fighter holds 2 or more belts.
Bute: This are two different things. A unification bout is a very Big one from all aspects, but once you have two or more belts, you pick one and give up the others. At every fight you have to pay 4% of the purse. Ward more than sure will give up a belt, keeping only one. I would probably do the same to.

Reporter: Bernard Hopkins doesn't seem interested to give Chad Dawson a rematch and say he'll rather fight you. Are you interested in a fight against him?
Bute: Hopkins is a legend. he's a LHW champion he has over 20 title fights. It's normal for me to want to fight him, and it is one of the options that I and Interbox have in mind.

Reporter: Have you seen his fight with Dawson
Bute:(laugh) Everybody knows that Hopkins has a more dirty style of fighting. I can write it down now that if I fight against him and I'll caught him with an uppercut a little lower than his ribs he'll be rolling on the floor accusing a low blow. This is Hopkins, but he remains a great fighter and I respect him.

Reporter: Let's get back to Carl Froch. Are there still chances that the fight or the fights against him to be made?
Bute: Sooner or later it will get done, the negotiations with him are not over, we are in stand by until we settle things with Showtime on this subject. Probably next week we'll know where we're standing more clear.

Reporter: Froch is a "Big-mouthed" boxer and he talked a lot about you and not very respectful. How much do you want to close his mouth in a fight.
Bute: Of course I want a fight with him for the statements he made to, but after all boxing is a profession so the main goal(reason/stake) are money. Settling our Grudge we do when and if there is an opportunity to, we don't make a purpose out of that. Froch is big-mouthed because he knows that a fight against Bute will bring 20 000 ppl audience in the Montreal Arena and a big purse in his account. He shouts the same for a long time for a Calzaghe return to. Because he want's a fight with him. The reason is the same, a fight with Calzaghe will bring a large amount of money. I'd like a bout with Joe Calzaghe to (loughs)

    He was not invited.

Ken Hershman "the maker" of the Super Six:
On criticism of not include Bute in the Super Six originally:

“I’ve addressed this issue in the past. In my view when we had to go about creating it and structuring it to get five promoters and six fighters on the same page. To me, the way to do it was with the existing relationships that we had. It wasn’t to say that I didn’t think InterBox or Jean Bedard or Lucian were trustworthy. I did. It’s just that

We had to make some tough decisions and we made them. In terms of regrets, I think no and that everything happened for a reason. When we put the Super Six together I thought we had some really good fighters and some really intriguing matchups and it’s all been really fascinating. And now we have the opportunity with Lucian to take him and put him in with the winner of the Super Six for what would be the greatest fight in super middleweight history. We’re just really looking forward and not back.

SOB Ward refused to allow Bute to fight in his own personal tournament! Notice that Ward was the only boxer who did not have to travel! Ward will refused to fight Bute because he is afraid he will lose that fight. Bute is the best 168 lb. fighter in the world. Ward does not have to fight a top fighter, does not have to travel, wants his personal referee and judges. Still, with all that, he will still refuse to fight Bute. Bute is much better fighter than SOB Ward. The tournament was set up for Ward and for Ward only, this is obvious...............

    *******s are hearing footsteps.

Bute makes a good point about who ward can fight. Reason is he already did. Yet there are plenty for bute to fight.

And to the guy that posted the statement about bute not being invited. Did you actually undrstand what the guy was saying? If you did I'm pretty sure you would have never posted it.

The reason you think lies under those words is invalid thinking that Abraham who fought everybody was invited, and fighters like Ward&Dirrell who fought so many names and took so many risk until then were invited.

Who looks like he didn't understood now?
