Is It Reasonable to Have JMM Ranked Ahead of Pacquiao P4P?

Barely? I had their last fight 117:111.

 

He got outworked and out boxed. Hell no. You can't cry your way in the rankings.

 

honestly yeah I do, even though I really do like JMM, I just feel Pac edged two of their fights (but not this last one, honestly) and it's a BAD style match up for Pac.

For the purposes of this thread, I think Bradley would lose to both Floyd and Pac but give both of them really ugly, tough fights and maybe on some flukish chance win (cut by head butt contributing) but I think Cotto would knock Bradley into next year with his height, long jab, and uppercut hook combinations as he came in to swarm him because Bradley doesn't have the pop to make Cotto fear him. Yet I don't think a spoiler like Bradley or Cotto belong near the top of the p4p lists AT ALL, even if they get victories over Pac/Floyd by flukish luck, their career and overall accomplishments and style don't warrant it, just as Mayorga should never have been on a p4p list even though he beat Forrest convincingly, a guy who should have been.

What is going on with the common sense of this board of late. Look at the poll results.

 

1. You're in the minority, because MOST felt JMM won the second.

2. Yeah, bad style match up...What kind of ***** **** is that coming from Pac's camp and *******s?????? "Oh...We're looking at possible opponents, trying to figure which is a better style match up for Pacquiao".

Right, but I think the person whose number 1 gets there by having the number 1 accomplishment, which is beating the number 1. Mayweather can't be credited for a win he didn't have VIA another person.

 

Lists like these are subjective. If you genuinly believe JMM won all fights against Pac, then of course you should have him ahead. I find an absurd assumption, but thats up to you-

And by the way, it seems a tad to generous to have Ward ahead of Wlad. He needs to have at least some defences first.

I just dont understand how some people score rounds. I respect you can make a case for JMM in the third fight, but 117:111 is a scoring from out of space.

 

It is rare a HW makes the top tier of the P4P rankings...Because of the true definition of P4P....I think people forget what it means.

There's a scoring system in boxing and throwing a bunch of punches doesn't win you fights.

 

I guess the subject has been debated to death already, and it is not like anyone will change their stance now.

Pac was not only workrate. He landed. Scoring it a shutout like that requires you to be very generous to JMM, basicly assumming he connected every time he started to swing, and he did not.

The ring generalship-argument seems to be based around the notion that Pac tried to box rather than brawl, and that it was JMM who forced him to do so. This is likely not the case.

 

Might be. I am no expert on it, just notice that Wlad is more accompliched than Ward by a wide margin.

 

It's not even about accomplishments really... It's about making all the fighters the same size and seeing who would be the most dominant.

That's why Wlad being high on the P4P list doesn't make sense to me, since his biggest asset is his size, not saying he isn't he is not a top P4P HW, even all time, but in the true sense of P4P I can see why Ward would be higher.
