Disagree, Barkers perfromance against Martinez is better than beating an unbeaten PROSPECT!

  2. Hopefully they will learn from the experience and bounce back stronger and wiser than before. None have anything to be ashamed of by not winning.

I do have a slight concern over Barker. It was his first loss and he was stopped and that can have a negative affect on a fighter. He did look devastated on Ringside the following week. Hopefully he's put it behind him and moved on.

    Good fight, hope it happens.

I saw Pirog's last fight against a pretty limited Russian opponent, but still, he looked very good. Pirog is just a better all round fighter than Barker I reckon, difficult unconventional style to fight, decent power, great chin and very good fitness levels.

Martinez is overrated - no way is he P4P no 3 but he is absolutely locked down, number one middleweight.

As ever people are judging a fighter on his last fight too much. FFS he still knocked Barker out!

Fair play to Barker for looking to get straight back into the mix. I think Pirog takes this one, but Barker will make things awkward for him. Can see Pirog fight similar to the Jacobs fight, putting on pressure and counter punching coming forward.

Barker is a domestic/European fighter end of! Why does he deserve 2 world title bouts when he simply ain't good enough, I actually think he's the lesser fighter out of the british/Irish Middleweights!

He is becoming the man in the same way George was at heavyweight. It was nice in the beginning but one bull**** fight too many and you can no longer be considered the man.

The man fights the best, Barker and Macklin aren't in that stratosphere. Martinez should only be fighting champions or P4P fights.

Not completely his fault but he is part of the mix up where all the champs are a joke. Someone needs to come out and make a statement by knocking contenders and champs off.

Barkers performance against Martinez is overrated. He lost 2 rounds, busted MArtinezs nose, won 2 rounds, Martinez regained himself won the rest and as soon as he actually stepped up a gear he put him a way.

When you are one of the best, if you don't look like Superman you are questioned. Good on Barker for not being blitzed inside 3 but it was more a case of Martinez not being the best he could be that night.

Barker is a top 10 fighter, and Macklin is the uncrowned WBA champ according to most. Hardly in a different stratosphere.

Overrated or not I do think Pirog will give Barker a hiding here. I'm not sure Barker has the pop to stay with him, or to discourage him in any way. Pirog's odd unorthodox style of pressure will be a tough proposition for Barker

:| calm down!! The point I was making was that for Martinez to justify his p4p ranking, he will get better tests at 154 than at middleweight. And there's no denying that- there is a larger crop of proven, top quality fighters at that weight than at middleweight.

Conveniently forgetting his Pavlik & Williams wins are we? And his annihilation of Dzinziruk? So what he didn't have his greatest performance vs Barker, who didn't exactly go all out for the win did he? I'm guessing you're one of these idiots who all of a sudden thinks Donaire's overrated after the Narvaez fight too. I think you'll find you're selective argument is more of a joke than anything I put.

Barker is a top 10 fighter off of a loss. Let him mix with contenders first.

Macklin fought Sturm and did win but didn't take the rematch and Sturm is massively protected.

Martinez is a P4P fighter. He is in a stratosphere that Macklin and Barker will never come close to.

People need to stop treating Martinez like he is just another middleweight. He is the lineal champ who used to fight P4P fights against Williams and Pavlik. He needs to get back to champs or P4P bouts.
