 poor sod, it's part of reason i'm walking away at end of season coaching this side. There's no more parents but kids have been robbed by a few ref's this season. I nearly throttled one the other week it was a diabolical performance running line. Disallowed 3 goals one of them my player jumped above the defender and was offside.

I've been sent off this season for saying 'bollocks' to ref, i was asked to leave field and went and sat on a bench away behind goal. As i left i shouted to my team 'come on lads see it out' and clapped them and the whole team turned to clap me off . 3-2 up as i left field. Sitting on bench my striker makes it 4-2 im off the bench celebrating and at end of the game players are going mad celebrating felt like Jose .

I cannot respect refs if they don't show it back, the parents thing was horrendous at start now lads are coming to games on own it's lot easier.

The "parents thing" is as old as the game itself. Watching their son play football just seems to bring out the worst in some blokes.

Wee Mick that I'm talking about has had a few bans and fines, he entered the field of play and handed the Ref his stopwatch arguing about injury time and all hell broke loose, pitch invasion both sides

You cant beat it m8 stick at it, "it's part and parcel of the game" :deal

I'm off on the lash now, back tomorrow in tatters hoping to see Scotland up the table :smoke

Elvis hope your old man is alright amigo.

Yep, it's a massive reason why kids don't develop. Some get taught things only for work to be undone in car on way home. I got a lad who's like a Ashley Cole type full back. Reads game well, quick, good in a tackle and brave but on the ball he for years would play with no class and it dawned on me listening to father it was him. He was telling him get rid, get rid and thats what he did.

He's actually improved since father was banned from games.

    :lol::lol: Ledge!

I love working with these lads, it's voluntary while my other coaching is all paid stuff. It's just gutting at times and said to woman that runs club it's closest i've been to hitting someone in football and it ain't worth it..

Have a good one bro, you can sit back knowing your work this week is done with that McKenzie pick  :good.

I think we play on big pitches far too early in this country. Young kids should not be playing on such massive pitches with normal adult sized footballs. It doesn't develop them, especially their ball manipulating skills and technique. I think if we had a culture of playing Futsal, which is a game played on small five a side type of pitch. Actually smaller, mainly on indoor arenas, with a very different almost flat ball that requires you to do a lot more in terms of skills. We would produce MUCH more imaginative players. Blaming parents shouting on the sidelines is a little cliched and too easy imo. The problems are much deeper than that.

Thats old school full back play. Hit the ball into the channels for the forwards to chase ASAP. Problem is those balls are usually coming over the forwards shoulder while the defender has been facing the ball since it left the full backs boot.

They are using those little pitches and goals now and having 4/5 a side teams now.

I'm not sure anyone is blaming pushy parents for the ills of English football. Just saying they are a pain in the arse!:D

Exactly! teams good ones play zonal with central defenders marking ball side to they cover ball down side.

Slip it's part of the problem, all aspects need to be looked at but that's one of them. Small sided stuff is great, but i believe the F.A is again heading down the wrong route with how they want coaches to coach. We need to all have same philosophy, we all need to balance coaching and allowance for mistakes. Players need repetition technically and tactically. I'm all for allowing for mistakes it's part and parcel of game but Barca run a course in Cobham around 8 months back and a colleague of mine worked on it with them and he said mistake 'stop!' coach steps in coaches it, kid makes mistake again 'stop!' coach is in again to show them. Old habits die hard and they won't allow it. Plus possession, possession, small group work, overloads (3v1/2v1/3v2/4v3).

A major problem is junior teams doing tactical work rather then technical work. Kids are missing out on touches of ball while one of kids dads shows 10 year olds how to stop the other teams star player for 15 minutes of session.

I'm going to do a futsal course soon, problem is hardly any around and low demand.

BTW our academies play 22 games a session normally, Spanish play 122 games a season. Barca will play Espanyol in a 11v11 game, 3 week laters Espanyol will play them again at La Masia and play 6v8 match. All recorded scores as well..

Some weeks they will play 4v3 matches, 5v6.

I taught a group of under 16's other day 'it's only 11v11 when ball it's kick off, from then on it's all about situations and scenarios with 1v1, 2v1, 4v5'. Players have to be used to dealing with situations and being able to cope and find solutions.
