Well, let me start first with Cotto. If I'm not mistaken this will be contested at 154. A weight where Cotto has adjusted well. So definitely Cotto is a lot stronger this time. As you can see in the Mayorga fight, Cotto is physically strong even at 154. And he can take punishment much better. And Mayweather's punch doesn't necessarily remind anyone of Pipino Cuevas.

Stylewise, Cotto has shown that he can handle or even neutralize speed. Truth is he was giving Pac a tough time before Pac's power eventually took over. He also displayed this aspect of his game against Judah and Mosley. Both men were perceived to have a speed advantage.

Lastly, the biggest intangible is Cotto's power which has not diminished even after moving up in weight. Add the fact that Cotto is a sharpshooter as well, with a wide variety of punches in his arsenal. (Especially the powerful digs to the body.) and we have a man who will definitely give Mayweather one hell of a fight. I pick him to win.

Hey, nothing's wrong with your opinion if you can back it up right? :D

I think if the round 3 version of the "Floyd vs Ortiz" comes out Floyd will take this.. I do not think that if Cotto comes hungry Floyd can afford to fight going back like he did against Oscar..

I respect your views but would bet 50 pounds sterling that may wins. Possibly even by TKO

You really think Cotto has more power? do you watch the fights? Cotto does not have more power than Money. And once again Money will go toe to toe and kick the opponents ass. Snoozer......

That, and laying on the ropes as well could be problematic to Floyd.

    One more thing to add.

I'm getting haunted by images of Floyd who can't really dispose of Jose Luis Castillo even though he won.

And Cotto is way better than that.

If Cotto somehow manages not to get cut up, he has a chance. I'll be rooting for him, though.

Cotto is a good guy in boxing. Bottom line may Jr gets hit, still amazing fighter. If cotto can put pressure on him all night like hatton and Ortiz DLH etc, it turn out to be really entertaining. People forgot that Ortiz was landing shots on mar Jr. Had him in the corners and was throwing bombs before he did that head butt. Not all shots were landing but cotto is way better than Ortiz. People are writing off cotto way to much is disgusting.

I will be rooting for cotto. Fan of may Jr but if cotto win it will shocked the boxing world.

Dont get me wrong id love to be rooting for cotto, him and may are 2 of my favourite fighters.
Ive been looking back over alot of there fights the past few days since the fight was announced.
I just cannot see ANY WAY how cotto is going to beat mayweather.
Okay he win have d advantage of 154lb weight on his side but thats it.
I cannot see anything in his aresnal that will trouble mayweather,
Hes naturally slower, has trouble with fighters with good movement and defence. He only looks good when his opponent are flat footed and allow him to unload.
No way floyd his going to allow cotto to open up on him.
Floyd is the sharpest, hardest to hit boxer in the game, and has seen everything cotto has before, cotto wont be able to counter floyd, get frustrated, and get countered himself all nite long
Im expecting the TKO late on by floyd,
and if it goes the distance cotto is only going to win 2 or 3 round applying pure pressure (kinda like the hatton fight played out)
    that my 2c anyway

I'd love to see it happen but I think Cotto's style will play right into May@, hands. People underestimate May's power, size and strength. I won't be surprised if May walks Cotto down and forces a late stoppage...

I said in another thread, "you would think that Cotto was coming into the fight wearing an eye patch, an arm cast and on crutches". Even if he doesn't win, which I think he can, he will give Floyd his toughest fight to date.

HAHAHAHA!!!..Ban urself...Floyd is a great puncher but his KO over Ortiz SHOCKED me at how deceptive his power is....If Cotto KO'd a middleweight with one punch, it wouldnt shock me cuz he's always been a puncher...Floyd is not a pncher
