What if Rahman would have defended against Tyson instead of the Lewis rematch?

Tyson was a blob too. Nielson the former Olympian was pretty tough for being a blob.

Going back to Rahman. I liked him coming out of the amateurs. He only had 7 or 8 Amatuer fights. Kevin Rooney taught him boxing. He started his pro career with Tommy Brooks and while he was never a technical masterpiece he tried really hard and was more of a blue collar fighter that wore his opponents down. Shortly before the first Rahman fight he left Brooks and started changing trainers every other fight and his ability really started going down. He became very lazy and seemed to lack focus in most of his fights. He was never going to be an elite heavyweight but he was a solid top tenner when he was in shape. That being said in my opinion he was never going to beat Tyson around the time Tyson fought Golota. Tyson could still put it together good enough if he was in shape.

If Tyson had challenged Rahman for the title, it'd have been the Tyson of Nielsen, or Lewis.

Even the Golota performance, overrated as it is, was gone.

    The Golata Tyson beats Rahman.....early.

Watch Rahman vs Sullivan, thats all one need to know about him.

Slow, did I say slow ? lol, Bodybuilder build around the Lewis fights, slowwwww right hand, poor infighting and a borderline glass chin......a recipe for distaster against even the pretty much washed up Golata Tyson version.

As far as the first Lewis fight is concerned, both looked like ****, Rahman was ready to quit after he got the little cut, thts the reason Lemmie got so cocky, too bad he forgot that his chin is china..........and that shot was not even that hard, Rahman s right is decent but overrated because everybody can see it from a mile away and brace themselfes. Tyson took HARDER flush Lewis right hands when he was a shell of himself without going down.

Anyway , I take the Tyson impersonator over the chinney one hit wonder Rahman. Lol, God damn did he look awful in the Oleg rematch, both looked like Mummies, lol, Olegs shots looked like thrown from a 12th century catapult and Rahman still could not dodge while the good ol'china chin betrayed him again ......

Rahman would have had the confidence of being champion to add to his arsenal. Hasim was quite well thought of pre TuaI. Even after that bout and the Maskaev fight, I think most thought he could give anyone a decent contest, as physically he could compete with everyone, and although he had a soft chin, he had a fair ticker.

I think Tyson would of been a warm betting favourite going in, and at the time I would pick Tyson to win. But with hindsight it is clear Tyson was done, and Rahman would of got through the tough opening rounds and stopped Tyson late.

Yeah tyson would be a slight favourite but rahman would stop him about the half way point.

Tyson at that point was absolutely no better than the tua that hasim twice outboxed.

I've deliberated back and forth but i'm convinced now that hasim pulls the mild upset and stops mike.

More interesting would be the holy fight with hasim confident coming off two knockout victories against faded greats.

So Rock Rahman KO's Tyson in 6 Rounds, But Lenny Lewis takes 8??:huh :huh

I Am NOT buying that. Lenny hits way harder, faster, more skilled And with way better combos then Rahman does, FACT. Rahman takes 9 Rounds to KO Tyson in 2001/2002 IMO. :deal

Lewis is superior than rock in every way which is why I think rocky finishes him sooner.

Tyson will have some early success and will go balls to the wall for the first 4 rounds. After that he'll have gassed so badly that he'll be a punching bag for the next couple of rounds where rock hits him at will.

Tyson found out after round 1 he would have no success against lewis so he fought more conservatively and took his beating.

Not particularly more so than Ettiene

    You mean like Ettiene did?

Danny Williams knocked Meehan out in something like 30seconds of round 1 too

Yea he put a decent journeyman like performances against Toney, but again it showed his limitations as much as his strengths

And you think Rahman's chin sees him hold out that early barrage?

Not saying your wrong.. But what do you think happens if Tyson catches Rahman early? Do you think Hasim can take clean shots from Tyson? edit nevermind saw powerpuncher asked you that already.
