    Both looking unspectacular.

Donaire vs. Vazquez ought to have been the main event, to be honest.

More legitimate champion in a more legitimate defense against a more legitimate contender.

Less popular division, though - so here we are. :!:

    68 - 65 Chavez Jr.

Rubio is starting to get bodied up badly, he used the low blows twice to get time, but I don't think that tactic has worked, Chavez is hurting him to the body and dictating the action.

Chavez showing loads of class not retaliating for what I counted was like the 5th or 6th hard low blow...................

His body work lands under the cage or on the belt.....Rubio then fires back with one under his sack.

Close round 7 I'll err to Chavez even though he was caught pretty damn hard near the end with a straight right. Almost looked like his knees buckled.

    Rubio 5-2

    Round 8

Hard body shots by Chavez. Rubio jabs a few times, backs up, resets and starts over again. Chavez just keeps drilling into Rubio's patchwork quilt of skin with his shaggy dome, and ripping body shots. Rubio is running back on his heels whenever Chavez isn't pushing him back, and just trickling out jabs to the head that Chavez doesn't even seem to feel. Clinch. They grapple a bit and Guadalupe Garcia splits them up. Uppercuts by Chavez. Rubio jabs into his face to slow him down but can't. Chavez walks through and willingly eats jabs, landing uppers to the body. Hooks to the face by Rubio at point blank while getting backed up to the ropes, not a lot on them. Elbow to the mouth by Chavez, and he gets warned by Garcia. Hard slap-down lefts and rights by Chavez. Rubio blocking but getting backed up to the ropes.

    10-9 Chavez

    79-73 Chavez
