Every time Condit moved off the edge of the cage, he simply jogged off into the distance to buy time. If he was truly a "Natural Born Killer" and not another Jackson camp points machine, he'd have used the pivot off the cage to set up an attack when he had Diaz trapped. That is what a real striker would do in that situation. That's just one example of his shitty, boring, fearful tactics tonight.
Jackson trains Jon Jones. You know. The guy that has been murdering all the top Light Heavyweights? Carlos has been wrecking his recent opponents too. Fighting smart against Nick Diaz and not letting Nick play to his strengths makes you a smart fighter, not a coward.
That's now three abject fails in a row. My point has absolutely zero to do with the scoring system, and everything to do with Condit's gameplan and fighters' approaches to fighting. You can try all night and you won't turn what I said into something different, you're being utterly bone-headed. atsch
And if Jackson said to Jon Jones "Rampage is too dangerous, let's just legkick, run, and outpoint him", I can imagine what Bones's reply would be -
Nothing will kill this sport.. Styles make fights, and competitors with that mentality are the ones who will harm this sport.
I don't know what fight you were watching. Did you accidentally watch Nate Quarry vs Kalib Starnes by mistake? Maybe it was Machida vs Ortiz.
:deal Points wins are a possibilty in every combat sport and always will be. It is just reactionary nonsense and hyperbole from fans spoilt by KO bonus' and can't appreciate finer points - such as a game plan.
I disagree, as I often do with you as I think you talk shite the vast majority of the time. A sport where both guys try to disengage and sneak in enough innocuous strikes to edge a fight on points will die eventually. The main event tonight was hotly anticipated, and it was ****ing rubbish because one guy was intent on running and picking up points, and getting out of there safely. You may like this, good for you. I don't, and I think it means the sport is going in the wrong direction.
Do you understand what I mean when I say points should be incidental? I know that people like Fedor and Jon Jones would understand it.
I believe I understand what you are saying. Taken literally you are advocating a "Bando" like approach to scoring. No finish no win I believe. Won't work in MMA - too many grey areas.
I have to log off for the night, but will be back on tomorrow. Just in case I've given people the wrong impression - I'm not saying Nick Diaz deserved to win the fight, he didn't. I scored it for Condit, and as I said in the first sentence of the first post, by the scoring criteria Condit deserved the win. I'm just lamenting this modern, pragmatic approach where guys come out with the sole intention of winning a fight on points. It sucks. Good night.
Thus, you don't understand what I was saying at all. :-( Incidental does not in any way mean "should not exist".
