In Pride these scared bitches were cornered in the ring and then stomped on the head and soccer-kicked to the face until their teethes fell off.
Popkins is spot on That fight should have been FOTY Condit and Jackson saw to it that it was a disgusting display of boredom **** Greg "Cowardice First" Jackson
Condit fought a smart, technical fight against a very tough guy. He wasn't gonna win a brawl and he wasn't gonna be submitting Diaz. He did what he needed to in order to secure the 'interim title' and ensure a fight against GSP.
Even though im a diaz fan, your exactly right couldnt agree with you more!! BTW diaz should of taken the fight more serious.
Condit fought smart, he fought so he would win. He was NOT going to finish Diaz, and neither is anybody else. He was only going to win fighting the way he fought. So why the **** would he fight any other way.
Condit was probably thinking something like this: Stand toe-2-toe and trade bombs with a guy who has an iron chin? Even if I don't get knocked out, I'll probably get outworked, lose the decision, and be in severe pain for weeks after. Take this ****er to the ground? Its highly probable I'll get submitted. Hit and move this mutha? Bingo.:good
I'm not going to continue to argue with all these Condit apologists, all I'll say on this thread is that in my opinion (and it has always been my opinion) is that fighters should fight with the main purpose of finishing the fight, whatever way that may be, strikers building towards a TKO, BJJ specialists working towards a sub, wrestlers getting a TD and working GnP or towards a sub. Then if the time runs out on them, they'll have incidentally won on points because they spent more time, had greater success, and got closer to their stoppage than the other guy managed to. When guys don't fight with this mentality, and fight with the main purpose of winning on points through engaging as little as possible, the sport suffers. I notice that not one of the aforementioned Condit apologists bothered to even touch this post: People can try vainly to label me as someone who craves violence (utter, utter nonsense if you look at my posting history) or someone who wants to change the scoring system (which I am, but this has nothing to do with this issue because under the system I propose Condit would still have won this fight anyway), but all I am is someone who believes in the warrior mentality and who holds the principles of combat sports dear. When Junior dos Santos beat Roy Nelson on points, I didn't complain, because Cigano worked towards a stoppage the whole fight but was simply unable to get one, and when the final bell went he was an incidental points winner. If Carlos Condit had turned Nick Diaz, went at him aggressively, eventually been fought off by Nick, and been unable to get close to finish him, I'd have no complaint. But his leg-kick-run-pivot-run-engage-as-little-as-possible tactics were clearly designed for a safety-first points decision. To me, this is a fighter who has sold out the principles of fighting, and it's happening too often these days, and everyone applauds. You guys can pay your $60 to watch another one of these hit-n-run amateur-boxing style non-events, next time I'll stick to watching a dvd of a real fighter like Fedor, Penn, Jones or Shogun.
This is just beyond idiotic and has less than zero relevance to anything I've said. :-( You goons surely have to realize that guys like BJ Penn and Fedor and Jones and Shogun and so many other fighters don't fight like drunks in a bar, but also don't set out with the sole intention of winning on points through running and flicking out points-scoring strikes and running the clock down. You must see the difference for Christ sake!!
I sure do. Fedor Finish %: 76 BJ Penn Finish %: 81 Jon Jones Finish %: 87 Shogun Finish %: 90 Carlos Condit Finish %: 93
Exactly, throwing this **** at Carlos for one fight is insane, the guy has one of the highest finishing percentages in the sport. He's stopped previously unbeaten fighters like Dong and McDonald in spectacular fashion, he's great for the sport.
