..i mean this is getting ridiculous...not a fan of same day weigh ins, but that or perhaps a rehydration limit, of say, 10 lbs or so...its obvious a number of fighters like chavez Jr. boil themselves down to gain an advantage in size, instead of going to a higher division where they wouldn't be as effective.

24hr weigh-ins have changed the sport for the worse, repeatedly cutting large amounts of weight has a negative impact on performances & longevity.

    I'd favour same-day weigh-ins with rigorous check-weights before.

I think he's doing something like blood doping (like cyclists do) to make weigh ins and getting the blood back after the weigh in. He's already failed a drug test for a diaretic or something. What did he gain last night, like 20lbs?

Boiling yourself down has it's disadvantages as well though. You might come in bigger but you might also come in weak and at a greater risk of getting KO'd if you've boiled down too much.

I actually like 24hr weigh ins but as long as they're enforced. I remember Cotto Malinagi weigh in was 36-48 hours before the bout coz Cotto was strugling with the weight. That's a joke but people will turn a blind eye in boxing.

I thought the 32 hour window was for the fighters health.
Someone once mentioned there are less weight related incidents in the ring.

    Martinez wins title.
    Zbik is mandatory.
    HBO doesn't want Zbik.
    Martinez fights Dzinziruk.
Martinez is stripped of his title.
Martinez is crowned Diamond and Emeritus champ (becomes mandatory).
HBO approves Chavez Jr - Zbik
    Chavez Jr wins belt.
Chavez refuses to defend against Martinez.

:bbbChavez Jr the WBC middleweight champion of the world.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

I agree. This needs to be regulated and there needs to be limits. Hard to believe that boxing didnt adress this after Gatti-Gamache.

I think fighters should weigh in the morning of the fight. That stops all the bull****.

yep..or Benn/ McClellan for that matter..Gman was a notorious weight cutter and dehydrating the fluid around the brain is not healthy..
