Thank you. Making weight is very important and some people dont realize that. Chavez is not the only fighter that gains weight during fight night. Once again this could have its up and downs and its simply not cheating at all.

Somehow it's now cheating to have 2 guys have the same exact rules for weight, if one guy puts on too much weight?

That's the stupidest ass thing I've ever heard. Whatever weight you can make is the weight you can make.

When you have guys challenging for titles that aren't full time boxers yet they are at a disadvantage in this situation. Money certainly helps if you can afford to have a doctor standing by to drain a pint or two of blood and then put it back in after the weigh in.

Some orgs do have rules, 30 day weigh ins, etc... We need one set of rules in the US to insure boxers safety. Weight, drug testing, etc. Rubio was saying NO testing was done for this fight? Ah, Texas. Home of the "honor system".

Heres what I cant understand, If youer a 154 lb fighter then your walking around weight shouldnt be no more than 160, not 180. A fighter got at least two months prepare. If you cant walk in the area that morning weighing the proper weight then your training wasnt **** or youer in the wrong weight class. There are no excuses and none should be accepted.

This is my biggest concern, that these massive weight drops are being conducted by scientists, not boxers. Boxing matches should be about ability and physical prowess, not who can hire the nuttiest professor to remove some fluids.

60% of the body is water, so there is massive margin to cut theoretically, and guys are pushing higher and higher into the danger levels. Sooner or later there will be another fatality or tragedy due to this.

I don't think same day weigh ins or ring weight stipulations are the right way to go. The issue with a ring weight limit is boxers not rehydrating enough, and trying to get to the end of the first round in survival mode just to get a drink.

I think that staggered weigh-ins are the safest option, i.e. 14 days before a fight a fighter should be within 7.5% of the limit, with 7 days to go they should be within 5% etc. Then weigh-in 24 hours before.

When you start compromising, then you open the door for more compromise, Pretty soon you got something that dont even resemble what its supposed to be. Boxing is a job and you should be prepared and ready to do that job and that means meeting all specifications. All the preparations that need to take place, can and should be done. A fighter weighs in that morning and hes got the rest of the day to relax and mentally prepare. If its a 24hr deal, then the fighters should weigh in before the fight and not be over 5lbs of the limit. Every pound over that should be subjected to a monetary disipline and noted. If the infraction continues two more times, the fighter should be instructed to move up a class or be suspended.
