It was very obvious WV2 is a very well schooled fighter, has a nice tight guard, but there was a few moments in the fight when Nonito got him very good to the body, why did all of that stop after the 5th or 6th round? Should Robert have advised him to dig into his body more than he did? Shooting left hooks to his body would've also invited Vazquez to try and counter with right hands, which ofcourse.. was Nonitos invitation to countering up over the top of Wilfredos right hand. What do you think? His showing was kind of disappointing, and as much as he was able to control the fight, not once was he able to really exploit Vazquez high guard.
Well, can't blame you for being dissappointed, but Nonito really is a primarily a headhunter ever since. He seems so confident that he can stop anyone with headshot alone (which he is). However, I believe going to the body will help him so much.
People were saying the exact same thing in his last fight. The guy does not go to the body enough. He's somewhat limited still.
Vazquez jab got him when he tried to move in, then when he got inside Vazquez did a great job of catching him with the left hook.
It was very disappointing. I thought he should've mixed in some rips to both sides of the body or finished off some combinations with shots downstairs. Donaire seems to be lacking in a lot of fundamental aspects.
