When Floyd defeats Cotto, will the ring recognise him as P4P #1?

The p4p king shouldn't be getting out boxed and outclassed by a man nearing 40 years of age.

Floyd continues to dominate everyone of his opponents and has been doing it since the 90's.

Floyd fights people coming off wins at and doesn't drain anyone.

 

floyd has the chance to become the #1 p4p if he just didn't ducked a fair 50/50 offer from pac. beating pac's leftover would not do the trick.

Pac's top 2, no doubt.

His performances against Mosley and JMM were not that impressive, so the whole "what have you done for me lately" doesn't do him well. Especially considering 75% of people believe that JMM (and a large number of those 25% are irrational Pac fans).

Margo, coming off a beating, at 150 pounds and a 2 year layoff, is not overly impressive (although size wise, I suppose, yes).

Clottey was nothing special.

Having Pac at number 2, or even number 3 behind JMM, is fair.

8-10 - pick and choose. Lots of contenders. I believe Gamboa and Bradley deserve a shout, although I don't agree with Vitali cracking the top 10.

i will agree that he should be no. 1 if floyd KO Cotto before the 12th round....

 

Why?

Why is a knockout performance so important?

If a fighter wins every second of every round and wins a decision, to me that's better than a KO1.

Who knows what would've happened in a KO 1 fight.

If you think a knockout performance against Cotto is p4p number 1 worthy, then a dominant decision should be the same.

75% of people believe that Pac lost his last fight (with the majority of the other other 25% being irrational Pac fans). He also looked unimpressive against Mosley, fought a Margarito at a catchweight of 150 after a 2 year lay off and a beat down against Mosley, and Clottey (again, a fairly unimpressive performance).

Pac hasn't looked spectacular since 2009, which was 3 years ago.

Not saying there's no argument for him being p4p no. 1, but there's also a strong argument that he's number 2 (or even 3).

 

£100 says that Floyd is on a better win streak than Pac...

i don't agree and by the way he downs mosley while mayweather didn't and almost kiss the canvass in 2nd round and clottey choose to not fight and just his earn his pay and he win over jmm just close...

he fights once a year, but i might put him on my P4P #1 if he do pretty well against Cotto.

 

Mayweather's domination of Mosley was literally twice as good as Pac's, in terms of the way the fight played out and the fact that Mosely was coming off his second best win of his career. Was rated p4p number 3 by ring and number 1 WW by ring (and most people in general, who NEVER thought Floyd would take the fight).

Pac's fight against Mosley was a guy coming off a huge loss, draw and even further aged. And was not as impressive and looked quite confused (despite winning nearly every round).

Putting a fighter down means niente.

Pac lost to JMM in most people's eyes, so that doesn't count.

Ortiz was the number 3 WW in the world coming off his best fight in his whole career.

It's pretty easy to argue that Floyd ranks above Pac P4P, but definitely not saying there's an argument otherwise.

 

Downing an opponent means nothing.

Floyd fought the ring mag number 1 WW and ring mag p4p number 3, coming off the second biggest win of his career. And dominated in spectacular performance (despite being rocked, again, means niente. The way he handled it shows his true china and recovery ability).

The Mosley Pac fought was older, coming off a dominating loss, a draw and signed with Top Rank for a Pay Day. And still Pac look confused, despite winning every round.

Floyd/Pac v Mosley is easily in favour for Floyd. And by a significant margin at that.

And while you may think Pac won the JMM fight, the majority don't. He lost on most people's cards, and that plays a factor in judging him p4p.

 

You can add Yahoo Sports to that list.

 

Floyd is #1 P4P anyway, especially after Pacquiao lost to Marquez. I'm not trying to bait anyone here either; before they announced Pac as the winner I just couldn't see how they could give that fight to Pac.

I suppose everyone has their own opinion.

 

Pac having destroyed cotto wouldnt make floyd's win much of a change in ring ranking unless he stopped cotto. besides cotto is a huge underdog in this fight.
