i see gsp taking him down to do his usual wrestling stratagy and getting twisted like a pretzel. After watching Shields give GSP a shiner in their fight i see the stand up between diaz and gsp being really close which would coax gsp to take him down. eh, its really irrelevant now and hypothetical but i though Diaz hadthe best chance to beat gsp in the division.
GSP is gonna get leg kicked into submission.. He won't be able to impose his will in his return from surgery.
Its possible, man. Bar incident, I think GSP style wise matches up very well against Condit. After a major surgery? Its a bad fight. Stand up wise, Diaz was an interesting matchup for GSP, and whilst he doesn't get credit for it, GSP is winning standup affairs by his skill rather than making it a fight. With Condit, I believed Condit to be on GSP's level but I thought his weakness would be GSP's wrestling, in which GSP would use more in this fight, but it will make an interesting fight considering GSP's injury and his need to finish the fight. I think GSP and Condit will be an interesting fight unless GSP decides to take it to the ground, whereas I think GSP can dominate.
The thing that makes GSP/Condit so interesting is the fact that Condit does not give a **** if the fight hits the floor, and he is on the bottom. That doesn't mean that he won't still be delivering shot after shot with his elbows. Condit is a madman from his back, threatening with both strikes and submissions.
Condit has some of the best sweeps in mma and heavy, relentless ground and pound when he's on top, this makes him a very interesting proposition for GSP. let's face it Diaz (or anyone at 170) ain't catching GSP in a sub.
Condit was effective but he stunk out the joint! I cant believe I paid 55$ for that Bull****! Condit was the "Natural born ******" last night!
Don't worry guys, GSP and Diaz is still on. There is just a minor delay. If GSP beats Condit, who is left for GSP to fight? If Condit beats GSP, who is GSP going to have to face before getting a title shot? Oh wait, Diaz is done with this ****. Maybe he'll try boxing. Anyway Diaz and GSP will face off in 2013.
Unless Diaz really does what he says he is going to do and takes his ball home and refuses to play anymore. Because he's sick of all this **** you know. Not sure what "all this ****" is. Seems like he's had a pretty good run, and I don't recall him getting screwed over recently. But I digress, as obviously Diaz isn't going to retire. He's just a natural born whiner, so he had to play the crybaby last night. GSP and Diaz is still very much a possibility down the road.
Lool pal. Will you quit pointing out that Carlos landed more punches. It's ruining the "Condit is a coward" theme that is being thrown around. Why would you be so foolish as to bring actual facts into this forum?
Its strange as a boxing fan because you see these tactics ALL THE TIME in that sport and its not really a big deal. If a fight's close then people get pissy about them but its an accepted way to win. But because striking in MMA doesn't tend to be that tactical, its rare we see it used that often.
I agree, nothing wrong the the performance, although slightly let down it wasnt the slugfest we all expected. But Condit fought brilliantly Maybe Diaz should stick to old men and Welterweights. Because it seems anyone who can move is a cheating coward
Listen, I was a bit harsh the other night, but my point still stands. I know Popkins isn't the best reference, but he made a very good point about what Condit was doing when moving away from the cage. If, after he had spun away, he then proceeded to throw something when Diaz was off balance, I wouldn't have complained about his performance, but it's the fact that he would literally turn his back and run from engaging that pissed me off. I didn't expect Condit to brawl with Diaz, but I did expect him to utilise technical striking a lot more than he did. He holds physical advantages over Nick - he's taller, has a longer reach and is faster. I don't think it was unreasonable to expect him to put these to use and stand on the outside and light him up a bit. I hate potshotting and running in boxing (**** Joan Guzman), so I'm not going to embrace it in MMA.
