Carlos "The Natural Born *****" Condit explains his performance

What do you mean he didn't engage, he outstuck Diaz FFS!!! It was a skilled disciplined performance, from a fighter who showed many things out there and utilized his full arsenal of strikes and showed he's not a flat footed slugger with a big punch. I totally enjoyed the way he fought. Better than what Diaz did, what drop his hands, taunt and chase without cutting off the cage properly. He on the other hand looked limited.

 

Save your breath. The Diaz revisionists are only going to distort what happened in this fight more and more as time goes by.
Some are already comparing Condit's performance to Kalib Starnes' against Nate Quarry.
The have no interest in the truth, they only have interest is worshiping Diaz. And they've taken this utterly stupid stance that Condit was obligated to fight Diaz in a way that totally favoured Diaz.

How many times over the years have we seen boxers win fights against opponents by avoiding their opponent's strengths. Slick, defensive boxers regularly avoid fighting on the inside, or getting trapped up against the ropes by an opponent who excels in that type of fight.

It's called fighting smart. But, I wouldn't expect Diaz and his fans to grasp the meaning of the word smart, considered the asinine comments coming from them.

 

Yeah but every strike was defensive. Nick had to engage him, Condit would counter and without seeing what the result of his strikes were he would have a pre-determined defensive move i.e. moving to ring centre. It was part of his strategy but on the occassions he would land 2 or 3 shots, he wouldn't follow up because he was already set to slip and slide.

If Nick didn't engage then there would not have been a fight. Condit was not in an offensive mindset like we all expected him to be.

 

And Diaz expected him to be in that mindset as well. Which makes Condit the smarter fighter as he led his opponent to believe he was going to do one thing, but employed a different strategy instead.

It's fascinating that some people are actually using this as an argument against Condit. Like somehow he was contractually obligated to employ every strategy he discussed in pre fight interviews.

Basically it's like this: If Diaz's opponent won't stand with his back against the cage Nick doesn't want to play. He'd rather quit and go home.

Nick is so embarrassed with getting kicked in the face several times by a ***** that he has retired.

But hey, look at the bright side. Now that he's done with MMA, there's Boxing waiting for him. Every MW/SMW boxer is asking: Where you at, homie?

 

Definitely smarter, cooler, more collected but this is a fight and fight fans are fans of fighting generally.

No hate, good strategy, but its like getting the chance to **** Jenna Jameson and she only does missionary. You simply expected so much more!

 

Diaz is a tough hombre. Legs got smashed and kicks to the chin but he just doesn't give a ****. He just wants to fight.

 

When you know a guy like Diaz is a difficult guy to out strike when standing in front of him, it's up to the opponent to come up with a game plan that will nullify his strengths. On this occasion, Condit and his team did just that. People need to deal with it. He knew if he brawled with Diaz he would come off second best, so he used his head, moved countered and even lead with good kicks too and combinations. He wasn't that negative at all. Despite fighting off the back foot most of the time he still landed more shots. If you can do that whilst going backwards then you make a strong case for winning the fight.

 

He didn't look bothered by what Condit was hitting him with at any point in the fight, and that combined with him always moving forward and taunting Condit, even going as far to slap him across the face, was probably the main reasons so many people believe he won.

 

Strategically, it was excellent but in terms of machismo it was dire. Shock - fans love machismo.

 

I thought the leg shots will certainly catch up with him later.

Generally speaking, knees **** your world up, as do kicks to the face, as do kicks to the leg but Diaz and Nelson are two exceptions!
