Actually, reach was listed as the same between Condit and Diaz. Also, for those physical advantages, we also have to credit Diaz with insane cardio capacity and a chin.

But I digress. For all this talk of pot shotting and ineffective leg kicks, listen to the impact of the leg kicks. Observe the finesse and accuracy of Condit's shots, as well as the risk level of some of them (he threw a very far lunging shot to Diaz's body at one point). Simply because Diaz has an iron will, chin, and set of wheels does not mean Condit was not dynamic or with bad intentions in his striking. He turned his back to Diaz a few times and jogged away, sure, but that did not occur every time nor was Diaz absolved responsibility in not capitalizing upon this.

Some guy turns his back to you or is running away at an angle? Sprint at him and take his ass down.

Also, I concur with the OP. Not that Condit or his performance is able to be likened to Diaz, so much that he is amongst Welterweight elite and should be/have been hyped. I always felt that Diaz was a pretty unidimensional, one-trick pony who would be exposed sooner or later who begun to ride an incredibly demented hype train following a win over a fat, old, cardio-deprived Hawaiian. I never considered Diaz elite, and do not think he should be at this point in time.

That is, fans made too much of Diaz and not enough of Condit or perhaps hadn't researched enough into what Condit is capable of and what he has done.

I would also like to add that for all the speculation about GSP V Diaz being better than GSP V Condit... who is to say that GSP would not have also "stunk up the joint" by utilizing tactics, finesse, and or wrestling to "grind" and "decision" (as so en vogue these terms have become) Diaz? Who is to say that Diaz would really be able to go at GSP, post-injury or not, the way he did the short, fat, old, huffing for air at the end of the first round Hawaiian who belongs at 155?

Honestly, even in his match against Penn, Diaz did not look an ounce worthy to be considered amongst the best until Penn (as he always does, though this is no fault of Diaz) tired.

No, he isn't. We all know that Diaz is a hard-nosed brawler who will go toe-to-toe with anyone. Condit is not that. Better fighter? Yes. Tougher? Definitely not.

Now we know for sure. I thought it was a toss up pre fight but not anymore.

Crack can be a **** of a drug... all 5 rounds ? :patsch

This was a very close fight that could have gone either way, I have no problem with the decision but to say Condit won clearly is very wrong & to say he won 5-0 deserves a months ban just because of the level of stupidity/trolling shown.

Diaz won rds 1 & 2... Condit won rds 3 & 4... rd 5 could have gone either way.

3-2 to either fighter or a draw are the only acceptable scores here IMO.

...But it wasn't. Honestly, what are people going on about? I'm listening to the MMA Hour now and Ariel Helwani said he had it 3-2 Diaz whereas Cesar Gracie who's on now is saying there's no way Diaz lost and thought he got robbed bigtime, and keeps going on about Condit "running". Condit outstruck him, man.

The issue with this fight is people are getting more upset about the result because a) Condit promised a dogfight and the hype let them down or b) Diaz/GSP is not next.

Its not about coming to fight, its a points game, its similar to boxing in hit or don't get hit, running away doesn't come into it, the striking does. The fighter can be skipping for all I care, if he's hitting his opponent, it counts. I'm not scoring a fight for Diaz because he's moving forward and also landing when I think Condit is landing more.

You know what I hate about MMA? The momentum of the last fight. I know "you're only as good as your last fight" is a true statement, but just the fact at how a guy like Carlos Condit, someone who's known for being exciting and having KOTN wins over Dan Hardy and Dong Hyun Kim, the latter by flying knee, gets labelled a boring ******* because he refuses to go to war against Diaz. Just because he's a striker with KO power and as is Diaz, it doesn't mean the best thing to do is fight fire with fire. The **** a fighter will get after their last fight is utterly pathetic. It's either one way or the other, it's just not right.

    :thumbsup

Stuff like this was always going to happen as soon as Nick got his 1st L in the UFC. You dont stand and trade with Diaz and get the W. Condit didnt, but was effective throughout

    :deal

I thought Diaz' Muay Thai fundamentals were off. He was getting landed on and failed to answer back. That strategy has won about a million Muay Thai and K1 fights by champions.

According to these blokes Willie Pep, Pernell Whitaker, Les Darcy, etc are just runnin', bobbin' cowards.
