To the *****s beating a young hungry lion and PAC struggling against an ATG in Marquez is more than enough to take the number one spot. :rofl

Floyd beat Mosely who at the time was P4P#3 and seen as a massive threat. Dominating Mosely didn't make him #1 so why would beating Sergio?

Floyd needs to beat Pac, but Arum/Pac won't let that happen.

Pac needs to beat a current healthy champ, he only got the number one spot after Floyd retired

Who cares. It's all subjective. Plenty of other lists have Floyd number 1 anyway. P4P is irrelevant when it comes to Floyd and Manny.

Mayweather only lost his P4P status cuz he retired. He should have got it back after he defeated Mosley since he never lost it by losing. But Pac defeated Margarito at 150 so Pac retained it.

Right now though Pac won't go down in weight to 140 or go up in weight to 154. Mayweather on the other hand is going up in weight to fight Cotto so since Mayweather never lost his P4P status by losing and is showing a willingness to move up in weight to fight he should regain his p4p status back if he were to win.

Besides Mayweather would be a favorite over everyone from 140-154 including Pac so how can Pac be P4P #1 if he would be a favorite for everyone from 140-154 except for Mayweather.

Floyd is the best fighter in the world. That said, you're free to play around putting him anywhere on your pound for pound lists you like. It won't change the fact that he is the best in the sport of boxing.

I didn't see a single thread claiming Mayweather gets the #1 spot for beating Cotto.

Not neccessarily. He will need to beat one of them to be considered the greatest fighter of his era. Right now he's considered the most skilled. But unless he takes and passes a big test he will never be called the greatest.
