Why are some of the more talented heavyweights so poorly managed?

Wach is moving along nicely, and Helenius was trucking well until his injury before Chisora.
Dimitrenko or Boystov vs Pulev or Fury could be made for the EBU title soon.

Stiverne was poised on his mandate with Vitali. Don't know how that didn't happen, but I wouldn't doubt if BS received a small check from K2 for stepping aside for Chisora v Vitali. Still, Bermaine should have fought since June.

Manny Charr seems to be fighting pretty regular and against better LOC lately. We'll see about him.

Can't believe that Ray Austin hasn't had a fight lately. He's one of about 7 bigger name fighters who have been mentioned for a potential fight with Rodriguez in May.

Chambers Liakovich was sure to be a great fight, but now that's 2 in a row that Eddie has had to cancel for injury. But at least we got a chance to see Bryant Jennings and Mo Byarm, that was a great fight. Jennings manager has him taking another decent fight in April and is trying to work something out with Global to "maybe" get it on with Szpilka in March. That would be a great fight for everyone involved. :good

Of course the K2 defend in the next 5 weeks. There will be BLOOD.

Chagaev just had him a good comeback win and Potvetkin Huck should be a great fight.

Lots of good fights going on out there, but I sure wish some of the better names out there like Arreola would answer their damned phones already.
Those guys have a CHOICE of who they get next. And by giving Molina a shot makes me think, OK, that's cool for the young guy, but there's no excuse for Butler when Welliver or Rodriguez coulda got made. Hell, Arreola coulda fought Thompson when Chambers had to back out. Those types like Arreola and Boystov just get me unglued when they are able to continue fighting Clevel when other Blevel guys anxiously beg them for fights.:rofl

 

And TUA.....****, Welliver has been calling him, Barret, Leapei and Meehan out now for 18 months. Add those guys to the list. Barrett is the exception as he has earned the right to pick and choose according to his monetary demands.

IMO, Barrett is the worlds best gatekeeper. The ultimate test of a fighter. If he's A class or aspiring to be A class, Barret is THE man to go through.:deal

Unfortunately, this kind of thinking permeates the management of HW boxing from the level of the likes of a gimmick like Kevin Ferguson all the way up to to the level of David Haye. Few want to take even a moderate risk for anything less than a totally disproportiate high reward. Things have really gotten out of balance.

 

All the guys you listed and a couple more like Boystov, Stiverne, Dimi, etc. refuse to fight each other in order to establish any of them above the rest. There are 3 tiers of relevant heavies: a) Klitschkos, b) Povetkin, c) everyone ranked 4 through about 18.

I honestly think alot of them are waiting for the Klistschkos to retire, I'm 100% sure Podvetkin is doing that as well and hes not even a prospect.

An excellent point. I never really thought about it before, but it is indeed likely that the promoters / management teams do this on purpose. "TBA" - just so that the opponent won't be prepared.

 

That may be true in some situations, but I think most of the time its just due to procrastination, indolence and incompetence on the part of managers and promoters.

 

About 1-2 years ago, Universum supposedly signed a promotion deal with GBP, specifically to help promote their fighters in the USA. (especially Boytsov.)

That whole thing seems to have dissolved. Maybe due to Denis' injuries, or maybe due to the extreme management changes within Universum itself?

Too bad, as they seem to have access to a lot of great raw talent.
