I think the difference was that Ward was in a comp where all the original S6 members travelled except Ward who had all of his fights in his home country. He never travelled like the others. I think that is why Ward gets that tag

Ok but can we agree that it's ****ing stupid? I have no problem with Bute fighting in Canada, a rings a ring, this isn't college basketball, "home" is irrelevant outside of shitty decisions. Until a shitty decision is rendered then it's really irrelevant. I agree with you that the fight (Bute/Dirrell) should be in Canada...that's where the most money is to be made, it was the same way for Ward, then he traveled to the other side of the country for the final of Super 6 and has traveled in the past. It's a non issue is my point, whoever generates the money and can sell the tickets should decide where the fight is held because he is the one responsible for delivering the funds.

You have to put the real reason in context and you seem to by-pass it in order to make sure your point sticks...

Bute has fought as many fights at home because he consistently draws around 15 000 paying fans worth in the ballpark of 1.5 million in attendance money. Who else besides Kessler can do the same at SMW ? Nobody !

Nobody ever made any serious offers to Interbox for them to consider fighting abroad since Arum had guaranteed a Pavlik fight on HBO in 2010, in Atlantic City if Pavlik could beat Martinez....

Bute will now fight abroad...but for either an equal or at least close enough amount money, or in order to fight the recognized best in the division, which right now are Ward, Froch or Kessler.

Dirrell is nobody right now, has no drawing power, no substantial fan base and is evidently not in a position to call the shots.

Dirrell not wanting to fight in Montreal is just a way to by-pass his shot unless he gets everything he demands with all odds stacked on his side. Considering the present circumstances, it's ridiculous and you know it.

Fighting in Canada should never be a problem as it is easy to make sure the referee will be American with no more than 1 Canadian judge on hand. It's been done before without any problem or hesitation.

There's no valid reason for Dirrell to reject a payday like he won't get anywhere else for a long while, especially if it's such a walk in the park like you keep saying over and over every time you mention these 2 fighting.

If Showtime truly want to see Dirrell fight Bute, they should put pressure on Andre to fight him where the money is and that's in Montreal.

Interbox said today on their facebook page that Anthony Dirrell is not being considered for Bute's next fight.

    Sorry Chitown. :D

Seriously? You call that a duck? Comparatively (vs Ward/Froch even Hopkins) unknown Andre Dirrell's less experienced brother who's WBC mandatory?

    Good one. :good

No, seriously.. so long as its one of the top names we're talking about and not some bum. If its some bum then not having Anthony as an option would be outright pathetic. :good

Well yeah. There's a god damn article about Stevenson possibly taking the April fight even though he fights Gonzales this month, not looking good in terms of 'options' if none of Ward, Froch, Andre Dirrell (Canada) or Pascal are part of the deal. Seems like they won't give in, they're not moving the date nor the place of Bute's next fight.

Stevenson or who? Green? Interbox rep on Facebook wrote that they're "working very hard" to find Bute a credible opponent.

Fans are also ALREADY anticipating (and criticizing) the possibility of a division top 15-20 facing Bute.

I said I'd be part of the riots, and yes, I'd make the 8 hr drive.

Stevenson and Green shouldn't be in the running. Anthony Dirrell is a far better choice than either one of them.

What you don't know, and this is breaking news from hours ago, Anthony Dirrell's wife delivered last night.

The new daddy is not signing for a long camp anytime soon. :smoke

That's absurd man, it might encourage him to fight and give him the extra motivation. Why wouldn't he be in a position to fight anytime soon? :patsch

He's not signing for April 14th is my point. No way. No way, no how. Not this soon.
