Is Cotto the best fighter Floyd has faced?

Ortiz that Mayweather fought is better than the Cotto he is about to fight.

Yes. Cotto now is shot to hell, he hasn't regained a fraction of the form he had before cotto-margo 1, I hate it for him but he is not an elite fighter at 154 and this is goign to be a walk in the park.

For me this was the next best thing after the pacquiao fight. Cotto has to be up there as the best on Floyd's mediocre résumé.

If Floyd had to fight at 154 he should have picked Martinez, that is the only fight after Manny I could see.

:patsch Since 2007 Mosley beat a barely ranked Collazo, lost to Cotto, and had his BIGGEST win over someone you think is a joke, in Margarito.

You think that made him #3 P4P? Unlike to a camel ****er like you, one big win doesn't just jump one to the very top of a division either.

He'll probably be up towards the higher end of the list for Floyd's opponents. My opinion on ranking them at the time that Floyd fought them:

Corrales and Castillo were around the same level, (although Castillo was younger and fresher than Cotto will be) maybe Oscar could rank higher, Mosley had fallen apart by the time Floyd got to him and Genaro Hernandez was so ridiculously outgunned in athletic ability and such that despite him being a very good fighter, it's not worth talking about in this discussion.

Everyone else is definitely lower down as far as quality goes.

Without question tougher opponents when he fought them:
    Genaro
    Corrales
    Castillo X 2

A case could easily be made that these guys were too when he fought them:
    de la Hoya
    Hatton
    Mosley

So, was Pacquiao the #1 at junior welter after he KO'd Hatton? Because, apparently, one big win isn't capable of jumping someone to the top of their division.

Don't tell me, "duh *****, because he was lineal." He was the Ring's lineal, which means little in scenarios like this one. After he fought Mayweather, Hatton should have lost the title, just like they have treated with the other lineal titleholders including Segura, recently.

(Also, Mosley beat Mayorga in that span you list as well.)

I'm not a hater but Cotto is done as an elite fighter, you could even see that in the Margo rematch.

Margarito was ranked #1 at welterweight and Mosley beat him, what does that make him?

Unlike a 60 year old fart loser spending hours creating drama online, I follow the facts as simple as they are. If he beat the #1 fighter in the division, that makes him the champion and the man to beat in the division, simple as that.

Didn't you consider Hatton the #1 fighter at Jr. Welterweight and THE MAN Mayweather should fight based on his ONE win over Kostya Tszyu that ranked him there?, and why would an old fart like you rank him there?, because Mayweather had trouble negotiating a fight with him?

Weren't you running the "Margarito is this generation's Hagler" parade since 2006?, you should be the first to have Mosley ranked #1, old man.
