I agree the Castillo re-match is one of Floyds' best wins. I agree that Castillo is a great lightweight, not just a good one. Honestly, even considering that the weight match-up for de la Hoya favored de la Hoya and for the Hatton fight, favored Mayweather, I still think the way he beat an undefeated Hatton at his own game with a pro-Hatton crowd was more impressive. I guess the crowd doesn't matter, Mayweather has only ever been the crowd favorite in Michigan and maybe early on in his career. In order, his wins considering on paper, actual performance, where they were ranked then, what they went on to do, everything combined and weighted with what I value most important or impressive (this changes from time to time when I do it): Corrales Castillo II Genaro Mosley Hatton de la Hoya Marquez Castillo I Baldomir Ortiz Manfredy Gatti Judah J. Chavez All GREAT wins. Cotto would certainly slot somewhere in there.
Pretty close.. which says a lot about Floyd's res. I'd rate Castillo higher at the time since he was prime. Cotto is a better fighter then Corrales. Oscar was over the hill , but Cotto is too so I'd say they are roughly even. Mosley was shot.
DLH-Past Prime still good. JMM-Past Prime and weight still good. Castillo-Prime Mosley-Past Prime still good. Hernandez-Past Prime still good. Corrales-Prime Cotto-Past Prime still good. Hatton-Prime Judah-Prime Oritz-Prime
Corrales was like a 3-1 favorite over Floyd...and we saw how that turned out. The answer to your question is a resounding NO.
So by your logic Oscar is a much better win since they were both over the hill yet Oscar is a much greater fighter who accomplished way more at 154 than Cotto has.
theres a such thing as upset maywether aint a some God that cant be beat i said this for 3 years and ssay it now cotto is one of the people who can beat mayweather diffrence is now hes more experience and wayyyyyyyyyyy more dangerous cause of the trainer he got this is a good thread ......is cotto new trainers better then his uncle
Floyd ain't a cherry picker. Fact His opponents get more superior and more elite as his career passes by. Fact This means Cotto is the most difficult and hardest fighter he'll be ever facing in his career. Fact
Nope, Floyd has always been to advanced for Cotto and Arum knew this, and this is why he never fought Floyd at 140.. He would have been waxed the same way his stable mate (Bruseles) got wax. Bruseles boxing style is dead on Cotto's and look how he got swept..
*****s can't really say that Cotto is good/best because a lot of them have already claimed him as shot/damaged and was a **** fight for Pac.
