Isn't really all that ****ing weird like people are making it out to be... Antonio Margarito weighed in at 150 against Manny Pacquiao and rehydrated to 167. That's 17 pounds. Lamont Peterson weighed in at 140 against Amir Khan and rehydrated to 155. That's 15 pounds. Chavez Jr., who's pretty huge to begin with, rehydrated to 180, which is only 3 more pounds than Antonio Margarito did against Pac... and that's at 2 divisions up.
Sorry. Smoked a J earlier. But to clarify, Chavez Jr. went from 160 to 180... which is 20 pounds... 20 pounds is only 3 more than Margarito's rehydration gain. That's what I was trying to say. :rasta
If you know what you are doing it's pretty easy to gain 20+ after weight inn. For boxers it's not so common to cut and gain back that much weight but in MMA it's a everyday thing.
Re-hydrating more than 5-7 pounds is really pushing it and the sad part is that you have fans that are so used to seeing fighters do that they think its normal. Gaining 20pounds overnight is a lot of weight which suggests Chavez Jr. wasn't in the type of condition he should have been in. You'll never see fighters like Pacquiao, Mayweather, Bradley, or even an Andre Ward coming in 20pounds heavier because there professionals.
That's the thing, people on here are going over board with that ****. I don't think it's good that Jr. did that, but rehydrating 20lbs isn't something to ***** so much about. It only shows he wasn't taking his training camp seriously, evident also by his DUI. If he continues not to be dedicated then he isn't going to amount to ****.
Chavez simply had dinner with Arreola and Solis...........................didn't take long...............
21 pounds is really a lot even for a MW. It's not a proof by itself that he did something wrong but combined with the missed drug test and his history of using diuretics it looks really fishy
