    From the Daily Telegraph..Paul Kent

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...ves-fans-letdown/story-e6freygr-1226266217142

SO Sonny Bill Williams is the recently ordained New Zealand heavyweight a champion, a title that, based on the latest evidence, ranks just behind the Lindfield Girls A-grade hopscotch.
Williams went into the fight a five-fight novice and you could believe, if you hadn't witnessed the fight, a worthy champion.

But it was another farce. His opponent Clarence Tillman had breasts, which is offensive in any ring that isn't Foxy Boxing.

Following last night's fight Tillman's record now stands at 11 wins against 10 losses and two draws. He looked credible, and certainly acted it at the weigh-in, where he fell into boxing vaudeville with the simplest of ease, sparking the weigh-in brawl.

Yet it failed to be recorded anywhere in the pre-fight press, as far as I saw, that of Tillman's 11 wins only two came against opponents who boasted winning records - and one was 1-0 and the other was 2-0.

How, then, did this ever get sanctioned as a title fight?

Why? Because more than a sport boxing is a money game, and if you can generate the cash the organisations can soon generate a title for you to fight for. Sonny Bill has hitched his wagon to the Mundine circus following the same tired formula that strips $44.95 a time from honest fight fans expecting an honest fight, and fails often.

The highlight of last night was turning on to Fox Sports to pick up the result - I refuse to be pickpocketed $44.95 anymore - and being told "no need to show you just the highlights, we'll show you the whole fight".

So inept was Tillman, they could afford to. He went in the first round.

They are cheapening the sport, and those who built it.

There was once a footballer named Herb Narvo, who held a special place in Australian sporting folklore.

Not only did he play frontrow for Eastern Suburbs and Australia but he was also Australian heavyweight champion.

This was when boxers could fight, and Narvo's achievement was so special it is still remembered. Just a cursory glance shows that in recent years not only has Sonny Bill now won a national title, but so has Anthony Mundine and John Hopoate, while several lower grade footballers who couldn't cut it could still switch to boxing and win national honours.

I'm talking about Junior Talipau and Dominic Vea who, to their credit, take real fights against real opponents in their climb to the top.

Around this Mundine won't go away, telling us he is serious about fighting in the US.

Mundine won't fight in the United States.

The word is that Jeff Fenech found him a fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and he knocked it back. More importantly, why did Mundine want to fight in the States? It had less to do with his desire to "prove himself" the best in the world, as we repeatedly hear, as it had to do with the bank drying up in Australia.

Meanwhile, real fighters like Daniel Geale toil away in near obscurity. Geale is the IBF middlweight world champion.

Yet he fights in Tasmania next month against an opponent none of us have heard of.

Yeaaah lost $20 here haha. oh well it is kinda cool to see SBW doing well i suppose. Would like to see him take another step up. Tillman's man tits were a disgusting sight to behold within the confines of a boxing ring.

Having said that, SBW has only had 5 fights with no amateur background so can't really expect him to take on full on contenders at this point.

Mainly to save everyone from any more embarrassment.
Well done to SBW . Plenty of work to do though, especially on defence.
I'll go out on a limb early and say my money's on Big Bad Barry if they ever meet.
