Fury and Price will both share these types in the next 12 months-

    M. Sprott
    A. Harrison
    S. Peter
    G. Guinn
    M. Rogan
    R. Towers

This type of fighter will be shared by both men in pursuit of heavyweight titles...it is how boxing is organised.

Fury/Chisora was a £300,000 fight. Hennessy won the purse bid with that anyway. The fight got delayed and F.W. wasn't happy, but I assume that the money was still given.

So offering £100,000 to Price is about what you would expect and a fair offer. (Of course, it could still be B.S. or come with strings attached. But I see no reason why it couldn't be a genuine offer.)

At least Fury vacated the title.

Remember Khan/Thaxton? F.W. claimed to have made something like a 100,000 offer but refused to go to purse bids and yet Khan kept the title. If someone can explain that...

  3. It was purse bids for Thaxton's title, which Khan was mandatory for.

Khan's Commonwealth belt wasn't up for grabs in the purse bid, though it would have been in the fight I'd imagine.

It's clearly bull**** because you don't make an offer and then immediately vacate.

I thought they made them mandatory for each other's belts? I know that Thaxton was complaining about Khan keeping the title.

    According to the BBC:

"Amir Khan will not fight Jon Thaxton for the British title after pulling out of the bidding process.

The contest was to have doubled as a mandatory defence of the 21-year-old's Commonwealth lightweight crown....

Khan now faces the possibility of being stripped of his Commonwealth crown with officials due to meet to discuss the fate of that title in due course.

Thaxton had earlier demanded the Bolton fighter be stripped of it if he pulled out of their bout.

Both are the mandatory challengers for each other's belts, but Khan's main priority is to get a world title belt.

"Even if I become world champion I will still come back and fight Thaxton just to shut him up," Khan had said is response to claims from Thaxton that he would "bottle it".

Why not if the offer is rejected? And you aren't willing to go to purse bids?

What option do you have but to vacate?

Why wouldn't they be willing to at least go to purse bids?

    only in boxing.
up comes a big unbeaten british heavyweight, to challenge for furys title, in a fight britain wants to see and what happens, fury drops the belt and moves on.
shame. im not blaming anyone over this, these things happen for so many reasons, money, different promoters, tv channels, etc, but its just getting all too common now.
you kind of expect fights not to happen now, rather than both fighters doing all they can to get it on.

The fight could go to Sky TV. The fight could be on another promoter's show.

You have to treat each fight individually, the circumstances for Fury-Price arent the same as Groves-DeGale or Gamboa-JuanMa.

Groves-DeGale worked because they were both at the same level, the fight was on PPV with Clev & Fwank was so confident that DeGale would win easy.

This fight doesnt work financially at the moment, a loss to a domestic opponent at this stage puts a major dent in their appeal to the casual fans.

Their paths are destined to cross but not quite yet imo

But then you vacate after it goes to bids, not before.
