Did he promise him one? If so, he should do it.

I'm confident he'll fight Khan eventually; now that he's champion, he'd be stupid to pass up an offer like Marquez. Khan's just a contender now. A deserving one, but not the man anymore. He can wait one fight to get his rematch.

Yes, in the hospital after the first fight, according to Khan at least.

    Peterson - Marquez
    Khan - Ortiz

Both of these could be great fights.

Lamont's doing what's right for him. I say he's a very live dog vs Marquez, I'll pick him to win that fight. Just because Marquez has Pac's number doesn't mean he'll take down everyone Pacquiao would be favored to beat.
And had the shoe been on the other foot, and Khan won a shadey decision, and Khan had a choice between a big money fight with Floyd or doing the honorable thing and giving Lamont a risky rematch, well.....

Lamont's going to fight Marquez, and then likely the loser/winner of the Pacquiao-Bradely fight, then probably the winner/loser of the Rios/Alvarado fight barring any rematches - that's a lucrative career right there, not just one fight deal... Had he gone out and rematched Khan and lost a decision, he might never be involved in any of those fights and certainly not at the income level he will be now. He can catch Khan down the road in a year, there'll still be demand for that fight, it's got a great selling point.

Agree but now Ortiz is waiting for Berto. Don't think Khan would have taken it anyway, Ortiz would knock him out. Perhaps Khan-Guerrero? That'd be a pretty good matchup and they both need opponents.

I pick Peterson to beat Marquez. Look at the people JMM has been beating, Juan Diaz, Katsidis, Pacquiao (in reality). None of those guys have the technical boxing skill to trouble JMM. Peterson's a better technical boxer than all of them. Add his youth and determination, I think he beats JMM. It's a GREAT matchup though. Much prefer it to Khan rematch right away.

I personally would've preferred a Khan rematch, especially after the controversy surrounding their first fight, but you can't really blame Lamont for weighing up his other options.

He stands a great chance against Marquez, and a win over him would give Lamont 2 great wins in a row, possibly leading to a big money fight with Pac or Mayweather, so you can see where he's coming from.

Khan never hurried to give Prescott a rematch. Lamont might never have these options again. He knows he may very well lose to either Marquez or Khan. I like his chances vs Khan better he shoulda just given him the rematch. But maybe he feels he has better chances vs Marquez and preys he'd get old by that time.

Marquez would give him the prestige and the money, too. He may not be a huge draw in the US (though still bigger than Khan), but he is inside of Mexico, and I think they're considering having it there.

Lamont ought to do what's ever best for him at this stage in his career. You only get one shot and it's something you can't rush in to.JMM is the best way to go with Pacman on line for the winner.
Khan is just a contender now and he has to deal with it.

you only get one shot, do not, miss your chance to blow, cause opportunity comes once in a lifetime
you better lose yourself in the moment, you own it, you better never let it go.

peterson doesn't owe khan a thing. lamont turned down his biggest payday opportunity to fight Khan in England, waited, took another fight, and got Khan to come to his hometown. He made sacrifices and took risks and now he deserves to reap the benifits. I love a JMM matchup, much more intriguing, Khan will be around later anyway.
