WV2 came in with the Mexican flag against Nonito and curried a lot of support with the Mexican audience.

What if Rigondeaux was to do the same? Since Cuban Americans don't support him, if he could switch allegiance to Mexico, he might get the support needed to get him the big fights.

He only did that because he was fighting on the undercard of on of the most popular Mexican fighters today in front of an entirely pro mexican crowd..... And I doubt he get much love from the Mexicans next time esp if he fights another mexican.

No. Look at how long it took JMM to get the fans respect. His style just isnt as pleasing to the Mexican fans.

He would have to wear our colors for a while and actually be more exciting. His style just does not get people to buy tickets. Not even his cheap countrymen.

Mexicans dont support puerto rican or black boxers

Wilfredo got away with it because of all the casual fans that went only to watch Chavez Jr and didn't even know who Wilfredo was, and thought he was mexican, and because many mexicans are currently embittered with filipinos due to the Pac-Marquez III debacle, so they just wanted to see Donaire lose more than Vazquez

Thats a shame. Its even more of a shame such a talented boxer cannot get support from his own countrymen.

Maybe he should bleach, put some make up on and rehydrate 21lbs on PEDS and start avoiding drug testing, and do the cha-cha dance like a sissy girl and they'll mistake him for Chaputo Jr?

It would be easier to stay midnight then do the rest of the steps you mentioned except do the chimp dance and get the black support.

    The same problem Martínez has

Argentinians only watch football and dont give a crap about any other sport, so here we have the P4P #3 being unable to fill a ball room

but at least pro boxing ain't freaking BANNED like in cuba. :-(

mexicans don't really come out in droves and buy tickets to fights for men other than their countrymen, but they definitely do support pure warriors. it's definitely a stylistic aspect more than a race or national aspect, except in the case of ricans because of the rivalry, when going beyond fighters who are mexican.

Lots of Mexicans support Donaire. Even in what WV2 did, most of the support was for Donaire. I don't think Rigo doing something like that is just going to win him a bunch of Mexican support. Maybe Gamboa, but not a defensive, take 0 chances, counter puncher. Look at Juan; he's mexican, offensive, in exciting fights, and has shown he's a great warrior, but in part because he's a counter puncher, it took him FOREVER to get the respect he deserved from the Mexican community.

if your not mexican or if ur black. the mexican crowd aint gonna support u like that unless ur really good. Vasquez did some ass kissing for support. the crowd probly thought he was half mexican and rican. if he wouldnt have came out with that flag he wouldnt have got that much love.
