The best 5 middleweights are Martinez, Pirog, Golovkin, Proksa, Sturm. We still have not seen one fight between any two of these. And then they wonder why boxing isn't as popular as it once was.

The best light middleweights are Cotto, Alvarez, Williams and Kirkland. Not one fight between them.

The best 3 heavyweights are Wlad, Vitali and Povetkin. No two of them have fought eachother.

The best 2 welterweights are Pacquiao and Mayweather. They refuse to fight.

The best light welterweights are Bradley and Khan. They refuse to fight.

The best lightweights are Marquez, Guerrero, Vasquez and Rios. Not one fight between them.

The same is true for Superbantamweight. I could continue all day...:hi:

I've been around here since 2002, boxing always has its ups and downs. The talk of it being dead always makes me laugh.. threads like this always pop up every now and then.

It's not dead, thats just an illusion that you have. If it was dead and for example MMA was taking over, how come boxing PPVs always do better numbers than MMA? Ok then.

I don't think by virtue of what you have written above that the sport of boxing is dead, you ****ing idiot.

How many fights last year did we have that were ****ing cracking? How many in 2010? Oh, also we have things to look forward to, and years and years of history to look back on.

I'm not writing RIP on any boxing gravestone.

Now get back under your stone.

Not dead, just in heavy decline (and for the foreseeable future)

I'm sorry; I should have specified. I was talking about good boxing; you know, fights where both guys have a chance to win. Of course, if youre talking about fixed fights like Pacquiao-Mosley or Cotto-Margarito 2, then yes, boxing is great.

I'll start paying again when Sergio Martinez grows a pair of balls and fights Dmitry Pirog or Gennady Golovkin, or if any of the guys in the first post fight each other.

Until then, I'm tuned out. I don't give a damn if lots of people tune into the fixed fights. I'm not as stupid as everyone else.

Boxing is dead to the fake boxing fans. To go on a boxing site and comment is proof that it is not dead. If Mayweather and Pacquiao are the only names that you know, then you are not a fan of the sport.

This ducking and dodging and taking low risk/medium reward type fights instead of high risk/high reward (or less) have gone on for years and years, its not a new phenomenom.

I think more now than before, there is a massive rift between GBP/TR, which puts a lot of very great fights on hold for us. Even fights that'd make a serious buzz like Kirkland-Canelo won't be made out of greed for the ginger boy.

Cotto-May and Bradley-Pac aren't bad fights to be honest, lets see what their undercards may bring. Hopefully Canelo against a live dog and not some shot fighter or a no-hoper.

You're delusional; just admit that our favorite sport is dead. As long as idiots like you keep paying money to watch fixed fights like Martinez-Barker, duckers and their promotors will keep milking you for that money.

Tune out, and the promotors will have to put their fighters in the ring with real competition.

Now you're being realistic. I agree with everything you wrote. I'm just pissed off. Boxing has great fighters but not great fights. Of course there are some pretty good fights out there. But the obvious fights aren't happening. It's like the Giants and Patriots making it to the Superbowl, but then deciding to duck each other. Would any football fan be happy about that?

By the way, who the hell won the Superbowl?

    Marquez - Concepcion
    Ortiz - Berto
    Maidana - Morales

That's in the last year or so.

Martinez - You can't question his guts. Look at his CV.
