Sorry but I'm going to need to see a bit more than a context-free claim from the obviously neutral Team Ishida to conclude that Kirkland was ducking. Do we even know when the hell this offer was made? Also, did Team Ishida say anything about their own pull out from the contracted Khurtsidze fight?

OKay that's a bit more helpful, but if it was in the immediate aftermath of the loss/before Kirkland's reunion with Wolfe then I think it's hard to call that a duck. Gomez also appears to have missed out on Khurtsidze wanting to fight Ishida (indeed even signing to fight him!).

 

Lets see how it turns out. I think Kirkland will most likely KO Molina but it's not an easy fight! Molina is capable of out pointing James. I forgot all about Ishida-Williams, When does that take place Gonzo?

 

Kirkland has the worst chin in the history of boxing.

 

Not really. He may have some of the worse footwork and therefore bad balance in boxing we see among prize fighters but his chin isn't really awful. He wasn't really hurt, just stopped because he kept getting knocked down because his feet where never under him.

 

Kirkland is foregoing a chance to fight Ishida to fight Molina for prestige, a title and a much bigger purse. This isn't brain surgery here.

Boxing is a business. Not some back yard brawl that you need to exact revenge. If Ishida can win vs Paul Williams he will more than likely get a shot at Kirkland.

In boxing the time frame to make money in the sport, especially for limited fighters like Kirkland, is small. You don't follow up a great win vs Angulo with fighting a no namer like Ishida. That fight will always be there. Molina is no gimmie and if Kirkland doesn't prove to be the stronger fight I don't see him getting the decision. Kirkland will need this fight later.

It isn't like the boxing world is clamoring for Kirkland vs Ishida. Just a couple of fools who think a fighter has to always give a rematch. Ishida won, he should be happy with the elevation of his career and the fact he will now get another fight on HBO and probably something down the road. Probably best for him to keep the fight in the back pocket as well. I can see both these guys needed the fight down the road.
