Yeah the rematch is for the same belt. He practically disappeared after the first fight, had a low key fight in October which was an easy win over a nothing opponent, and now he's got this rematch.
18 pounds in a month? Doubt this is how they wanted to go into the fight.... Might be another disaster for him/Arum. Hoping for a good fight still!!
Probably best he moves to 130lbs after this rematch, win or lose. He doesn't actually look to be carrying a great deal of excess weight, apart from his face. He has just grown into a SFW.
He's definitely got some room there to lose weight. He is way too big to be fighting at 126, though. He's probably the same size as Manny Pacquiao.
Hmm... Not good for Juanma. My pick for this rematch is a Juanma stoppage, but I'd be lying if I said this is encouraging. I'd hope he'd be more trimmed down by this point. If I were him, I'd be so motivated I wouldn't let myself eat since their last fight if that's what it would take to get this one. If he loses, his career is almost officially a bust, considering the lofty ranking and expectations which he had the day before he fought Salido. He weighed 124 against Oliver in October, so maybe he's fine. Give me Juanma vs. Gamboa @ 130 in late 2012/early 2013. (assuming Gamboa fights Rios win or lose, and Juanma gets a "tune-up" at 130 by the end of the year.) If Gamboa and Juanma win out until then and both seem to carry their skillsets up, this once "super fight" could still be salvaged.
He always puts weight on between fights, he'll make weight but it will be his last fight at the weight. I reckon he will KO Salido, should be a good fight though. Hopefully he learnt some lessons from the last fight and Salido was lucky to get past Haya in a very sloppy fight for him.
158 lb catchweight for Sergio to make. 126 lb limit for Juanma to make. Two completely different stories. There bodies are so different, not really comparable.
