Not quite true.

There are rules and regulations enforced by the Government in Australia to ensure Fair Trading.

This is to prevent people from being ripped off, no matter how much you may think they deserve to be if they are stupid enough to buy an item.

The $BW vs Tillman fight was advertised as the NZ heavyweight title fight, and indeed it was, but when one of the contestants is a part time boxer cashing in on his league and union popularity and the other is an unfit, out-of-shape American who was a late call up and obviously didn't train, who also wouldn't have been able to claim the title had he won because he's not a kiwi citizen, then what you have is a rip off, regardless of whether or not people are "stupid" enugh to buy it.

It's time something was done about this sort of thing, and no amount of nuthuggers claiming "You don't have to buy it" will excuse the fact that Nasser, Mundine and $BW are in the business of ripping off as many unsuspecting punters as possible to line their own pockets.

If you think this sort of thing is acceptable, then I suggest you emigrate to the likes of Saudi Arabia, or some other country where speaking out is forbidden. I gather you'll like it in such a place.

people know the card was ordinary. people knew exactly who the 2 heavy contenders were, their limited records, and lack of pure boxing skills.
but like it or not, many people get caught up in the publicity that dunny bill gets and they can't help themselves but pay to watch it out of curiosity etc.

they know full well that dunny is a rugby player who dabbles in boxing now and again. its no surprise that he isn't a full time boxer ffs.

Buster, why do you think Mundine had one of his shows in NZ? do you think its because it sells more tickets with SBW on the card than it would in lets say Sydney?

Truth is, its because most of the bouts on these shows would not get sanction by NSW boxing. For example, one bloke fought a 50 yr old on his debut. This wouldnt be legal in Australia, an 18 yr old vs a 50 yr old? both on debut. But in NZ they dont care, there is no age restrictions, which enables matchmakers to basicly get away with daylight robbery.

i dont feel sorry for the people who paid for it but i do feel sorry for boxing, its a kick in the guts when people who do watch it think that this is boxing, they need to turn in to a shobox show or a HBO Card and then they shall see some real boxing, not one sided bashings.

SBW undercard fights was prob one of the worst ive seen in the history of boxing. One bloke fought bare footed, i **** you not.

TC, no one is arguing it wasn't **** or that it was a waste of money, I think only manmanc actually paid for it. But what we are saying is its up to the consumer to think for themselves and act accordingly. Yes, it was in NZ for a good reason not to mention SBW is a New Zealander.

Because no one outside of boxing circles in Australia gives a **** about boxing or about geale, they want controversy to get them in.
They want a story ie mundine / SBW leaving rugby, they want big mouths, they want rivalry.

It's a show now and things have changed. Do I agree? Maybe not, but it is what it is and no point whinging and wishing it was the good old days. IMO

Agree with you in part. As long as people contuine to accept it as the norm then it will always occur, does this mean we should accept it and not winge about it? i dont think so. Its a bit of a cop out when you know its bullsht but dont speak up about it. cant really expect for any change to come when you dont voice a concern.

I think the majority of people these days dont give a fck and thats why these clowns are able to get away with it. Its no about boxing anymore, its about putting on a spectical and making a tone of cash. Its not a sport anymore, its become a bussiness that these guys will Milk every cent they can from it.

In the end they may fill up their bank accounts but they will also have to look at themselfs each morning in the mirror knowing they pillaged and raped a once great sport.
